River Island Adventures is an outdoor adventure resort located on the Waccamaw River just 7 miles from the ocean in North Myrtle Beach, SC.

We offer a variety of activities (kayaking, pontoon tours, Survivor-style challenges, etc) in addition to our camping options (glamping tents, wooded tent sites & treehouses on a private island).

We are a family owned & operated business that is perfect for a couples getaway or a large group outing. away from it all when you stay under the stars.

The space
Our facility is divided into two seperate areas along the river:

The Outpost
Our one acre Outpost property is the focal point of all that we do; it is where you will check in, park your vehicle, enjoy all the amenities listed below, take part in any of our scheduled experiences or activities and where you will find our 5 Glamping Tents on raised platforms.
At our Outpost you will enjoy: a large communal fire pit, hammocks & swings, slack line, giant yard games (jenga, connect 4, corn hole, bimini ring toss and tic tac toe), 7 foot propane gas grill, bath house with 4 restrooms and 4 hot showers and free WiFi access.

The Island
Located a short half mile down river (10 minute paddle) you will find a private 48 acre island. It is a secluded and primitive piece of property that is surrounded by the Waccamaw River on each side, a paradise for those wanting to truly escape. On the island you will find our Tiki Shack & Stage (for special events), yard games (horseshoes, ladder golf, cornhole, ring toss, farkle, bocce ball), hammocks, wooded campsites for tentcamping and our Escape River Island challenge course. Our first treehouse will be ready in the Fall of 2022 for a true magical experience of sleeping in a treehouse on an island!

Wooded Campsites

We have 6 spacious wooded camping areas large enough for you to bring tents, hammocks or even a pop up camper (no utility hookups). Enjoy the peace and quite surrounded by nature. Each site has a picnic table and a fire ring. Across the road at our Outpost you will find showers, restrooms and all the amenities listed above.

Don't want the hassle of setting up your tent? We rent large tents (big enough to fit two queen size air mattresses) for $50 per night that we will have ready when you arrive and take down when you leave.

Firewood is not provided but can be gathered in the surrounding wooded areas.

Bring your own kayak or paddle board and use our boat ramp to access the river or book one of our Adventures listed below. As a camping guest at River Island Adventures you will save 10% off any of our adventures!

Escape River Island challenge (our most popular activity)
2 Hours: We take up to 6 teams of two to our private 48 acre island on the Waccamaw River to compete in 10 different Survivor-style challenges. The first team to compete all 10 challenges and race back in their kayak win!

Kayak Tour Around The Island
2 Hours: Your adventure guide will take your group on a trip on the river to explore on and around a private 48 acre island in the middle of the river.

Pontoon Island Tour
1 Hour: Sit back and relax as your boat captain takes you around the island giving you a tour of the river and local area. Your group will have the option to stop at the island to get off and explore for a bit.

Kayak Trip To The Island
3 Hours: We will put you in a kayak for a paddle down to our private 48 acre island where you can enjoy the yard games, hammocks and swings before paddling back up river to our Outpost.

I'm Jeff and I own River Island Adventures just outside of North Myrtle Beach, SC. We offer guided kayak tours, pontoon tours, SURVIVOR Games, overnight stays in our Glamping Tents and in a 2 bedroom treehouse on our private 48 acre island on the river. I have 2 children and love to travel and stay in unique places!
