A handcrafted mountain loft

A mountain loft above the Wapiti Outdoors café and shop, with exposed beams and an electric fireplace
Wake up in the mountains. Coffee at the café downstairs. 20 minutes to Crystal Mountain and Mt. Rainier — Wapiti Basecamp is a mountain loft tucked above the famous Wapiti Outdoors in the heart of Greenwater. Two queen beds (one in the loft) plus a full-size convertible bed — sleeps 6 comfortably. Family-friendly and dog-friendly. Breakfast on us at the café downstairs every morning, plus 10% off everything else at the café and shop.

The space
Sleeping arrangements

Two queen beds — one in the main room, one in the sleeping loft (accessed by ladder) — plus a full-size convertible bed in the sitting area for two more guests. Sleeps 6 comfortably; ideal for two couples, a small family, or a group of friends.

The vibe

A true mountain loft, decorated by hand and by the people who live here. Hickory cabinets and exposed beams set the bones; vintage skis, local art, and handmade pieces fill in the personality. Cozy enough for a winter weekend by the mountain, open enough for a summer week of trail days.

The loft above the café

Wapiti Basecamp is built around the idea that the café downstairs is your “kitchen”. Up here, you get a coffee bar with our Wapiti house blend, a microwave and toaster for warming café food, and an honor-bar mini-fridge stocked with local beers, ciders, small-batch sodas, and charcuterie for an easy fireside dinner. Plus the freezer is stocked with single and double servings of our ice cream — yes, the huckleberry is in there. The 5-person dining table is where everyone gathers — grab your breakfast from downstairs (included in your stay), late-night pizza, as well as board games and slow mornings.

The bathroom

One full bathroom with clean lines, modern fixtures, a tub/shower combo for soaking after a day on the trail or the mountain, and endless on-demand hot water. Fresh towels and bath linens for every guest.

The practical stuff

Smart TV with all the major streaming apps (bring your own logins) and high-speed Wi-Fi throughout. Gas heat and air conditioning for warm summer afternoons, plus an electric fireplace in the sitting area — flame on, lights low, drink in hand. No dedicated workspace, but a midweek work-from-cabin stay is more than doable — the dining table works for laptops, and the Wapiti Outdoors Café downstairs is a fine change of scenery.

Outside

Two outdoor spaces, both shared with the Wapiti Outdoors Café during the day and all yours after hours.
Out back: a forest-facing deck with outdoor dining tables, Adirondack chairs, and a vintage chairlift bench from Crystal Mountain itself — retired from the slopes, repurposed as a porch swing.
Out front: an 8-person dining table under an umbrella on the lawn, parked next to a 1951 Chevy pickup that earns its keep in summer overflowing with flowers.

Guest access
What makes Wapiti Basecamp different

Most cabins in Greenwater are tucked off in the woods. Wapiti Basecamp is in the heart of town — above the famous Wapiti Outdoors, our café and outdoor shop.

What that means in practice:

– Breakfast is on us. Every morning of your stay, every guest gets a cup of hot drink and a bagel or pastry at the café — coffee, espresso, hot chocolate, tea, your call. Drip coffee is our locally-roasted Wapiti house blend. (Burritos and the rest of the menu, 10% off.)

– Lunch, dinner, and dessert available all day during open hours, too. Bagels, breakfast burritos, and pastries by day; espresso drinks, lattes, and cold brew on the bar all day; pizza to go for cabin nights; and a real ice cream shop year-round, with milkshakes to die for. (The huckleberry has its own following.)

– The shop is downstairs. Layers, hats, gloves, hand warmers, sunscreen, trail snacks, and drinks — everything you forgot or didn’t know you’d need. Plus mugs, stickers, and small souvenirs to take home.

– Guests get 10% off everything in the shop, too. Layers, gear, snacks, souvenirs — all 10% off, every day of your stay.

– Local intel from people who actually live here. Ask us where the snow is best, where the wildflowers are peaking, where to grab a late-night beer, where to find the best fishing spot. We’ll send you to the spots locals actually go.

Other things to note
Who it’s built for

Two couples splitting a ski weekend. A family with kids in the loft. A group of friends meeting in the middle. A pair of hikers passing through on a Rainier trip. A solo writer or a remote worker holed up midweek. A dog owner who’s tired of cabins that don’t allow them. Wapiti Basecamp fits all of them.
