The space
Stunning views overlooking the whole valley from nearly all rooms, the house seamlessly accommodates couples or groups up to 6 people and includes:

- a master suite at the northern end with queen bed, ensuite bathroom, study and ample closet space
- a second bedroom with queen bed
- a third bedroom with two single beds
- a second family bathroom with tub
- a well stocked kitchen with Nespresso pod coffee machine, fridge, microwave and new electric oven/stove (tea, coffee and some pantry staples provided)
- an open plan living and dining area with Coonara wood fire and huge TV with Chromecast streaming possible from your device (free WiFi provided)
- a laundry with washer and dryer
- a deck with BBQ, outdoor table and lounge chairs with great views across the whole valley, retractable awning for summer
- large gardens with trampoline
- a double carport with undercover parking for two cars

The house can be heated or cooled with reverse cycle A/C units in all bedrooms and the living area. The wood fire makes things toasty in winter and ceiling fans can be used in summer.

The house was newly furnished in 2017. Fresh linen and towels are provided for your stay, as well as complimentary shampoo, conditioner and soap in both bathrooms.

Note that Wandi valley has active timber plantations so the view of the hillside opposite may vary month to month.

Our holiday home is set on one acre. The top part of the property is established gardens and securely fenced. Meander down the path to find a gate to explore further down the hill, you may even spot our resident wombat!

We have solar panels powering your stay :-)

There is some house renovation going on next door during April 2024 to ? so there may be some daytime noise while this is underway.

Neighborhood highlights

Wandiligong is a small historic village set in a picturesque valley surrounded by forests and mountain ranges. Situated about 3.5 hours drive from Melbourne and only a short 5 minute drive from Bright, the town meanders through the valley with a stunning mountain backdrop from every direction.

Morses Creek runs through Wandiligong’s valley floor, with Bennett’s Trail alongside offering the perfect way to travel in and out of Bright by bike or foot. The leafy river trail is ideal for families to explore in all seasons and connects to the Rail Trail from Bright.

There is a lovely children’s playground next to Morses Creek in Alpine Park, about 5-10 minutes walk downhill from our house. In Bright there is also another great playground by the Ovens River, and the fabulous and free Splash Park during the warmer months. The creeks and rivers are fun for wading, floating and swimming. There are many country lanes and walking tracks to meander along.

Wandiligong was the site of a small gold rush during the mid-1850s. The whole town is now registered with the National Trust as a classified landscape.

Wandi is nestled in the foothills of the Victorian Alps, with Mount Hotham and Falls Creek ski fields only an hour's drive away.

Make sure you leave time to enjoy lunch or dinner at the award-winning local Wandi Pub, the new 5 Acres cafe at the site of the old Wandi Maze, or the many restaurants in beautiful Bright.
