Peace and quiet

This home is in a quiet area.
Some info has been automatically translated.
Our restored farmhouse is transformed into a beautiful, cozy cabin. It is perfect for a romantic getaway for two, or a cozy stay for a family with one child (bringing a baby is also no problem!). Situated in the middle of nature, overlooking our valley with the meadows where our animals graze. Ideal for those who search nature and peace.

The space
This cottage is an old farmhouse build from stones somewhere in the nineteens century when this area became inhabited by free farmers.

The farmhouse consists of a not-yet reconstructed stable, and next to that the living part, that has a living / sleeping space, a kitchen and a bathroom. The cottage has clay plaster walls, a wooden ceiling and partly a wooden floor. It is heated with a wood stove and additional electrical heating. The attick used to be hay storage.

On our homestead we have three houses and several small barns. On the pictures you can see the house with the "white" roof on the left where we live and the house with the orange roof on the right that is for rent. This cottage is the white roof that you see in front of the orange roof. All houses are oriented away from the yard and have therefor total privacy.

From the house you look over our meadows into the valley. In the meadows we have 6 horses. Around our house we have 8 cats.

In front of the house is a two level garden. The upper level has a table and garden chairs, the lower level has a fireplace

Guest access
You have the whole cottage available.

We are situated in the country side. When there is a lot of rain or after the snow it can be muddy here. Not around the house, but around the horses and our entrance road can become muddy. If this is the case, you would need to park at the main road and walk the last 400 meters.
In winter when there is snow, snow chains or a 4 wheel drive car is needed to reach the house.

Other things to note
Good to know before you arrive & helpful tips:

Stay connected in the wild: We offer a great, unlimited internet connection. It's perfect if you need to get some work done or just want to stream a movie after a hike.

Our furry neighbors: You'll share the farm with our friendly cats and beautiful horses. While our horses are just for watching (no petting or riding), you can enjoy horseback riding at a lovely ranch nearby! (Note: past reviews might mention other animals we used to have).

Pro tip: Stock up on groceries! We recommend grabbing your groceries before heading up the hill to Kralova. It saves you a 12-minute drive back down to the city, allowing you to settle in and relax immediately.

A touch of rustic adventure:
Our cabin is deeply tucked away in nature, offering true peace, privacy, and an authentic nature experience. Because we are beautifully off the beaten path, here is what to expect during your stay:

Embrace the wild: You won't find paved paths or manicured golf-course lawns here—just pure, wild nature. You might even spot deer, foxes, or badgers right outside your window!

Getting here: Our country access road can get muddy after heavy rain or snow. If so, you can safely park your car in the meadow by the main road and enjoy a short 400-meter walk to the cabin (bringing sturdy boots is always a good idea!).

Arrival & Contact: Our location is a hidden gem, which means it can be tricky to find in the dark. We are a working farm, not a hotel with a reception desk. Please call us when you arrive! If we don't answer a text right away, we might be driving the noisy tractor—just give us a ring and we'll happily guide you.

Cozy off-grid moments: We rely on the public electricity grid, which can occasionally drop during severe storms or heavy snowfall (maybe a few times a year). If this happens, our water pump rests too (meaning no running water/flushing). We provide atmospheric battery lights and lanterns, keeping the cabin safely illuminated and romantic until the power returns.

In short: this place is a paradise for nature lovers who seek absolute quietness and don't mind a little authentic country living. We'd love to welcome you!

Where you’ll be

Zvolen, Slovakia

In the neighboring village of Kralova is a Hotel with an indoor swimming pool and sauna. You can make horse rides through the Kralova mountains from the nearby local ranch.

On the other side, 45 minutes up the hill you find the traditional settlement of Sekier and behind that the Zajezova ecologal centre. Our place is perfectly situated between the three most interesting cities of this area: Banska Stiavnica, Banska Bystrica and Kremnica. This area of Slovakia is an unknown beautiful rural volcanic mountain area where you will still hardly meet any tourist. There are limited to none touristic facilities, but abundance of authentic Slovak rural live and endless unspoiled woods and flowering meadows. (you might spot our neighbor plowing, cutting grass or bringing wood with his Slovak breed work horse)

For families with children there is plenty of possibilities outdoors. Make a campfire and bake your own 'bread on a stick' or make pancakes, build dikes in the stream, explore the neighborhood, find the magnetic rocks in the forest, find a geocache, jump on the trampoline and more.

Hi! We are Veronika and Jan and we live here on our smallholding with our 10 year old son Timo and our animals. Veronika is mostly into horses and knows everything about their behavior. She loves to solve horses with problematic behavior. I work as software designer and like to work with wood. (I made the beds in our house for rent). Our shared passion is permaculture. Work together with nature is our keyword in horse management and gardening. Our smallholding has three houses and several barns. In one house we live and the two other house we use for seminars and rent to people who like to be outside like we do. There is one more small traditional farm house, but it is still in orignal state. Our place is very suitable for naturelovers who are used to comfort.
