Beautiful area

Guests love this home’s scenic location.
Enjoy a memorable and unique experience in the 'Caravan', a tiny home built on the back of a 1967 International Loadstar. Cozy up and read a book in the spacious loft bed. Have a romantic getaway, book our sauna or bring your family of 3 and make use of the twin futon. Walk or ride your bike right out the door on our trails and take in one of the classes or events at For-rest Retreat. Salmo is the perfect place to stay and explore the beauty of the Kootenays.

The space
The Caravan is part of For-rest Retreat and is situated behind our yurt where we host community classes and events. The sauna is next to our Casita rental just on the other side of the yurt from the Caravan.

Guest access
Guests are welcome to wander our trails, use our Zen Garden and attend drop-in classes in the yurt and other events (best to confirm with us first). We now have a sauna that we rent. Guests receive half price on sauna bookings. Look for the booking link in the welcoming email.

Other things to note
Please note that the toilet is a composting toilet and there is also an outhouse close by if you prefer not to use a composting toilet.
We book our sauna in 2 hour periods. Guests can book for half price ($40). You will receive a link to book the sauna when you make a reservation.

Neighborhood highlights

Located just 5 minutes from Salmo with a great coffee shop that provides breakfast and lunch. There are 2 grocery stores, a pharmacy and hardware store in Salmo as well. Salmo also has its own little ski hill that is open for night skiing and on weekends. In the summer the Salmo ski hill has excellent hiking and mountain biking trails. There are other trails in Salmo and in Ymir as well. Nelson, Trail and Castlegar are all within a 30-40 minute drive from Salmo and Rossland is 45 minutes away.

Hello! Our family of 3 has lived in Salmo since 2011. We love the Kootenays and the lifestyle it offers. We are passionate about the outdoors, especially skiing and mountain biking. I run a seasonal wood-fired oven catering business using local organic ingredients and love to work on building trails in my free time!
