A breathtaking view, surrounded by nature in a unique & peaceful setting, you will have it all! Enjoy a beautiful ADULT ONLY destination where you will truly find peace, tranquility & privacy. A 10 x 20 cedar bunkie, "Travellers Heart", is set in a picturesque clearing in the shade of mature maples. There is a private washroom & a charming outdoor kitchen (shared with one other cabin) A short trail brings you to Indian Point, one of the best private elevated views on the island!
The space
The space here at Gypsy Blues & Island Views has been thoughtfully created to provide you with a peaceful, quiet, spiritual and breathtakingly beautiful place to call your own, whether it's for one night or several, it is the perfect place to base yourself while visiting Manitoulin Island.
A unanimous favourite spot here is the Indian Point scenic lookout with one of the stunning views on Manitoulin. Also featured is the awe inspiring 10' carved eagle by island carver extraordinaire Don Tenniswood.....breathtaking!
As well as the Travellers Heart cabin, there is one other cabin available on the property

The cabins and summer kitchen are off-grid, lit with solar lighting, potable water provided, and the cabin has a cooler with ice packs. There is a wood outhouse with compost toilet and pedestal sink with a foot pump for water. "The Sea Shanty" is an internet lounge and charging station, it's amazing and you'll want to spend time here reading, connecting or lounging! There is also a shared refrigerator with complementary farm fresh eggs for use during your stay (based on availability), ice packs to use in the cooler located in your cabin. It is located in a lean-to at the back of the garage.
Gypsy Blues is a perfect space for artists, photographers , musicians and naturalists to spend time and feed your inner passions . There is no light pollution here and the dark, starry skies are incredible, some lucky guests have also experienced the Northern Lights! What began as my artist, photography, and jewellery studio has grown into a small accommodations venture. My background includes 15 + years owning and operating a motel/cottages in a major tourist destination, so being an experienced & welcoming host is not new to me. When I moved here, I realized just how amazing this property is, as well as the entire Island, and I am thrilled to be able to share it with you. It is also important to me to maintain the environment for the wildlife that resides on and around the property, and to provide an adult only oasis where you can truly unwind, relax, and rejuvenate. Wait until you experience the scenery, photo/painting opportunities, and wildlife....right here on the property! You will have a hard time tearing yourself away from here to explore the island, and may also wish you had planned a longer stay!!!
** No pets please - with the exception of registered service dogs **
Guest access
The only shared space here is the outdoor summer kitchen and the outdoor shower. This unique kitchen is a guest favourite and large enough to accommodate guests from the two cabins which are currently located here, separately sited for privacy. It is fully equipped with everything you might need to cook - a countertop barbeque and 2 burner propane stove, make coffee (coffee/tea/sugar/creamers provided) or simply hang out. It's already been christened "the gathering place". You'll find playing cards, games, yoga mats, books & puzzles.......even a hammock (one person can cook and one can monitor the progress from the hammock!) Everyone loves the outdoor shower in the maple bush, just off the trail to the lookout. It has a rainforest shower head, hot water and you can look straight up through the maple trees! There are lots of chairs out at Indian Point, the scenic lookout, which provides this amazing view and folks tend to gravitate there, especially at sunset. Also new is a hanging swing suspended from the huge maple tree out at The Point . There are lots of areas to sit and relax, either in the sun or the shade and still maintain your privacy. You'll find hammocks placed around the property.......try them all!
Other things to note
Guests with cars, trucks, trailers, bikes, motorcycles......you name it, there's lots of space for parking and maneuvering. No off- road vehicles are to be driven on the property, you will have to take them to the road and on to the many trails on the island.
Arriving by air? No problem, I offer complimentary pick up from the Gore Bay Airport, less than 10 minutes away. You can even see the lights of the airport from the scenic lookout on the property!
