Sip your morning coffee as sunlight lifts the dew and Rice Lake lies in tranquility, watch the sun melt into the water at sunset, and end the night under a sky full of stars.

Two Piggies is a private 5-bedroom waterfront cottage 90 min from Toronto with a dock, kayaks, hot tub, and direct lake access. Minutes from a free zoo, award-winning BBQ, a winery, and Ontario's best bass and walleye fishing.

Family trip, weekend with friends, or quiet escape, this is where you slow down and reconnect.

The space
The cottage faces west, giving you a front row seat to spectacular sunsets over Rice Lake every evening from the patio, balcony, or your bedroom. Bordered by Serpent Mounds, a National Historic Site on Hiawatha First Nation land, there's no development on one side, giving you exceptional privacy and a quiet, natural setting.

Bedrooms: Two king bedrooms upstairs with lake views and a shared walkout balcony. One queen bedroom upstairs with a garden view. One room with two twin beds (one pull-out). One queen bedroom on the main floor. The cottage sleeps 10 comfortably. Our base rate includes up to 6 guests, with a per person fee for additional guests. Larger groups up to 15 may be accommodated on request.

The renovated kitchen is fully equipped with cookware, dishes, and cutlery for 10 (please bring any additional items for larger groups). We provide ground coffee, filters, salt, pepper, and cooking oil. A Weber Spirit 3-burner propane BBQ is on the patio, ready for grilling. Propane is provided.

The water is sourced from a private well and treated with an advanced multi-stage filtration system. Safe to drink throughout the cottage. Full bed linens are provided (sheets, duvet covers, pillows). Please bring your own bath towels and paper towels.

The inflatable hot tub fits up to 4 adults comfortably and is available from June through October (allow up to 12 hours for heating). Two single kayaks with paddles and adult life jackets are included. The private dock gives you direct access to the lake for fishing, swimming, or launching your own boat.

We're also surrounded by great attractions. Riverview Park and Zoo in Peterborough is free admission with a splash park and mini train (great for kids). The Canadian Canoe Museum was named one of TIME's World's Greatest Places in 2025. Muddy's Pit BBQ serves incredible wood-smoked meats just 2 minutes from the cottage. Rolling Grape Vineyard offers wine tastings, wood-fired pizza, and live music (15 min). Warsaw Caves has spelunking, hiking, and canoeing (25 min). The Lang Hastings Rail Trail is a flat 33 km gravel trail perfect for biking or walking, and it passes right through Keene.

For fishing, Rice Lake is known for bass and walleye. You can fish right off the dock or head out by kayak. Boat and pontoon rentals are available at Wildwood Cottage Resort and McGregor Bay Marina nearby. A free public boat launch is just 5 minutes from the cottage for guests bringing their own watercraft. There's even a boat-access only area on the lake with a rare stretch of shallow sandy bottom that's perfect for families with kids. We share our favourite spots and gear tips in the welcome guide.

Nearby beaches with sandy swimming include Beavermead, Roger's Cove, and Squirrel Creek, all within 20 to 30 minutes.

In winter, the area transforms into a snowmobiler's destination with 215 km of groomed OFSC trails maintained by the Rice Lake Snow Drifters right from Keene. The Lang Hastings Rail Trail is also great for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing, and Rice Lake is popular for ice fishing.

Small, well-behaved pets are welcome (one pet per booking, $100 fee). Additional pets may be considered on request.

Guest access
The entire cottage is exclusively yours. The basement and garage are locked and not accessible. Please keep all activity within our property boundaries as neighboring lots are private residences.

All vehicles must stay on the paved driveway. No road parking and no driving on the grass (our septic system runs underneath the lawn). The driveway fits 6 vehicles comfortably, up to 8 max.

Exterior security cameras are located at the driveway, front porch, and backyard for property security.

Other things to note
- Please treat the cottage as your own home.

- The renter must be at least 25 years of age. We're in a quiet residential area with year-round neighbours, so we ask that noise be kept to respectful levels, especially in the evenings.

- All guests, children, and pets must be disclosed at booking. Undisclosed guests are subject to approval and a fee.

- No smoking or vaping indoors. Outdoor smoking is fine with proper disposal of butts.

- No pets on furniture or beds. Pets must be fully dry before coming back inside.

- Shoes off at the front door. A shoe rack is on the patio for your convenience.

- Please bring your own bath towels. We provide full bed linens (sheets, duvet covers, pillows).

- For larger groups beyond the 5 bedrooms, please bring additional sleeping bags, air mattresses, or blankets to ensure everyone is comfortable.

- Firewood is not provided but a local vendor sells bags on the honour system just 3 minutes from the cottage. Please bring a lighter, kindling, and anything else you need for the campfire. Observe any fire bans in effect during your stay.

- Please take all garbage and recycling with you at checkout. A waste drop-off site is a 10 minute drive from the cottage, open Monday to Friday 8 AM to 4:45 PM and Saturday 8 AM to 3:45 PM (closed Sundays and statutory holidays). Search "Bensfort Road Landfill Site hours" to confirm hours before your visit, or contact them via phone number on their website.

- Guests staying a week or longer can use curbside pickup (garbage on Tuesdays, recycling on Wednesdays). Sorting instructions are in the welcome guide.

- If your checkout falls on a Sunday or holiday, let us know in advance and we'll arrange disposal with our cleaners at no additional cost (limited to 2 bags). For all other situations, garbage or recycling left behind without prior arrangement will be charged at $50 per bag.

- Hot tub and outdoor furniture are available from June through October only. The hot tub is an inflatable spa and may occasionally be unavailable due to maintenance. We do our best to keep it in working order for every stay.
