Valley view

Guests say the views are lovely.
Rustica Retreat is a unique tiny house, designed by my husband and I, that maximizes the limited space we have. At 256 square feet, Rustica sounds small, but feels spacious. With 10-foot high vaulted ceiling, as well as six windows that bring the outside, in. Rustica fits her name, with a country chic feel to her. The inside has clean lines, white shiplap walls, wood accented ceiling and counters, and metal accents. Located at Red Barn Farm, a micro fresh cut flower farm in SW WI.

The space
I follow Airbnb’s enhanced cleaning protocol, which was developed with expert guidance. Here are a few highlights:
- sanitize high-touch surfaces
- use cleaners and disinfectants approved by global health agencies, and I wear protective gear to help prevent cross-contamination
- clean each room using extensive cleaning checklists

We are airing out the tiny house between guests. We open the windows immediately after guests check-out and leave them open while cleaning and sanitizing, before closing them and turning the air and/or heat back on.

Our property is located on the edge of town, in the country. We have several horses and sit on the highest ridge in Platteville, WI. We have great sunset views, overlooking a valley. Free, off street parking. Rustica Retreat is located on the same property that we live on, but a completely separate dwelling. Rustica has everything you need, from kitchen, living room, loft bedroom, electricity, running water, wifi, heat and a/c.

Guest access
Guests will have access to Rustica Retreat and one parking space on property, located next to the tiny house. Guests are not allowed in any of the animal pens, or any of the outbuildings or around the main house.

Other things to note
Smoking is not allowed on the property. Not inside or outside the tiny house. If you smoke in or outside the tiny house, you will receive an additional charge and be asked to leave immediately.

If you do not follow compost toilet rules that are outlined in the welcome message that contains your access code, as well as the instruction sheet located in the bathroom, you will receive an additional $50 charge. The compost toilet works well when rules are followed. It is not ok to allow the pee to overflow because you don't want to properly use it, causing a huge mess for clean-up.

No parties, no pets. See house rules for more details.

We also have animals on the property. Animals make noise. The cat roams around the property. Please be aware when coming and going with vehicles and watch out for animals that might be behind a vehicle. Animals also go to the bathroom. While we keep our property clean, it is still a hobby farm. Also, our neighbor is a dairy farm and if there is a south/southwest wind, the heavenly smells of the dairy farm reach our property. This is a very rare occasion, but wanted to mention. Welcome to country living!
