Set in the midst of the pristine Catskills forest, less than two hours from NYC, the Tiny Black A-Frame is a custom built, semi off-grid mini cabin with a refined wooden design and amazing views of natural splendor and wooded foothills through the fully glass front wall. Roast marshmallows over the camp fire while soaking up the natural sounds of birds and rustling leaves, or snuggle up with a loved one. This space is meant for making memories to carry for a lifetime.

The space
@ablackaframe - an Ashpine Homes property

Set on a private secluded road and surrounded by trees on three sides and sunsets on the fourth, this little jewel is a one-of-a-kind experience. Newly built in 2021, the Tiny Black A-Frame is a 250 sqft slice of paradise.  A loft with ladder access and a natural vista serves as the bedroom in the house. This cozy home exudes relaxation and comfort with a wood fire place and a custom oversized daybed in the living area to watch the sunset over the lake while listening to the crackling fire.  With a stylishly cute, yet fully functional kitchen and a bathroom to match, this space lacks for nothing.  A walk-in shower fills one side of the bathroom, which sports natural slate stone flooring throughout as well as an Incinolet (incinerating toilet)  The wooden countertop and fold-away dining nook in the kitchen continue the theme of a world of golden wood grain.  On the spacious front deck you will find a charcoal grill and an outdoor dining area surrounded by sparkling string lights and overlooking the lake waters just feet away.

The Tiny Black A-Frame is just a 15-minute drive from the historic Livingston Manor, the birthplace of fly-fishing in the United States, and is just under two hours drive from the George Washington Bridge.  The drive to this place alone is enough to lower the blood pressure and to feel the peace of the mountain views and tree lined country roads.  Visit the various Catskills Parks for unparalleled hiking, the Beaver Kill and Willowmaoc Creek for fishing, or the nearby charming towns like Livingston Manor or Roscoe where you will find great local restaurants, breweries, museums, live music and cute shops!

Guest access
You'll have full access to the entire space and our half acre property during your stay. You are welcome to bring a kayak or canoe to paddle around the lake or fishing poles to drop a line from the dam. We do have a shed that we keep private for storage/utility purposes but otherwise you’re welcome to explore.

Other things to note
While you’re here, enjoy lightning fast internet which can easily handle web streams and video conferencing.

Our Incinolet (incinerating toilet) can be used much like a normal flushing toilet, the biggest difference is that the waste is discretely burned within the securely enclosed base of the toilet after flushing rather than flushed out to a septic system or city sewer. (We will provide a detailed user guide prior to your arrival.)

We have one queen sized bed in the bedroom/loft. If there are more than 2 guests in your reservation, we will set up bedding on the couch/day bed in the living room prior to your arrival. Just make sure to book for the exact number of guests in the reservation. Also feel free to let us know if you need a second bed even if there are only 2 people in your group. If so, we'd be happy to set up the day bed for you too.

Please also make sure to check out the House Rules section before booking so you have all the information. We are excited to have you stay with us soon!

My work: Designer at large
Speaks English
The Ashpine dream started with a love for beautiful spaces, an obsession with architecture and design, and a passion for hospitality. My husband Grant and I poured our lives and souls into making our A-frames a wonder to stay in. We learned how to use nail guns and saws and many other things along the way, and built the vision into a reality. It was hard, and we know every board and every nail, and every piece of furniture intimately, but now we have the opportunity to share a wonderful space and experience with you. We hope you can come to love this place as much as we do. The new horizons of our dream is to help others create great memories, then eventually build more dream spaces in the forests of the Catskill Mountains and the Hudson Valley of NY. Thank you for the opportunity to share what we love.
