IRENE – a retreat made of wood, light and water for the cold season. It gently rocks on the Dove Elbe, a place for two to four guests looking for peace, nature and a feel-good atmosphere. Floor-to-ceiling windows let the wintry shore in, the fireplace flickers softly, and at night you can admire the starry sky from the 1.60 m wide bed. On the roof terrace you can enjoy the clear winter sun – a houseboat that warms the heart and soul.

The space
The IRENE is a place where wood, light and water merge and give you a little break from everyday life. Two to four guests can find comfortable space on 23 m² of living space: the 1.60 m wide bed on the sleeping level invites you to dream, the sofa bed offers additional comfort.

The living area is a place of warmth and coziness, with a tailor-made kitchenette that has everything you need for cooking and a small shower room. Floor-to-ceiling windows let in a lot of light and give you a view of the glittering water that flows gently along the boat.

The small terrace directly on the boat invites you to have breakfast, read or relax on the Süderelbe. On the roof terrace with lounge and sun loungers you can soak up the sun, enjoy the summer or watch the stars in the evening under the open sky. Wi-Fi is available free of charge, pets are welcome by arrangement.

On the IRENE, design, comfort and nature merge into an unforgettable summer experience – a place where you can slow down, feel nature and experience special moments on the water.

Note: This tiny houseboat has an eco-friendly dry separation toilet. At the back there is a container for toilet paper and solids, after use you throw sawdust into it. At the front, all liquids flow out and into the wastewater tank of the houseboat. The toilet is comparable to a compost toilet.

Other things to note
The grounds, the jetty and the boat are not accessible.

The water on board is officially not drinking water. Either bring drinking water or use the drinking water tap on the jetty.

Please keep showers short, as the site is not connected to the public sewage system. (There is a pit that is pumped out regularly.)

You can sleep on the sofa; it is 1.40 m wide when unfolded, so suitable for 2 people. So you can stay overnight with 1-4 people on the boat; depending on how much you want to cuddle, as a family with smaller children, for example, also with five people (if three sleep in the big bed). (Please always register all persons.)

In the courtyard, through which you walk to the jetty with the boats, high-quality houseboats are built by hand from wood and according to ecological standards. On the premises you often meet carpenters and boat-loving people. Sometimes construction noises can be heard. The surroundings are very green, yet it is still Hamburg; nearby is a railway bridge, which you can perceive more or less strongly depending on the wind direction. (Most people don't mind the noise.)

My work: Eco houseboat construction
I'm obsessed with: Houseboats and Sustainability
We rent houseboats and well-developed lifeboats in Hamburg. Most of our houseboats were handcrafted right here on site by ecological standards. Each (house)boat has a different owner, on whose behalf we organize the rental; and so each (house)boat is individually equipped and furnished. Choose your favorite boat for a very special stay right on the water!
