The space
The Weekender Bowhill is modern and spacious, with all the comforts of home. Cheeky kookaburras greet you each morning and signal when it’s time to start the BBQ for dinner. The well-equipped kitchen, BBQ, and gas pizza oven invite you to create gourmet meals and gather with loved ones around the large dining table.

Other things to note
- The first 10L of drinking water is provided, but please remember to bring extra. The house uses 100% UV-treated and filtered river water, which is perfect for showering but not safe for drinking.

- Linen is included for twin-share arrangements, covering sheets, towels, bath mats, and tea towels. If you need additional linen (for separate beds), it’s available at $20 per person.

-The outdoor fire pit is unavailable during Fire Danger Season (November - April).

- Please note: no pets, parties, caravans, or camping.

BOWHILL GENERAL STORE
While many small regional towns have a general store, you’d be struggling to find one that boasts views or a menu, as good as the one in Bowhill.

Perched on a clifftop, you could spend hours sitting back at the grassed outdoor area (and many do!) watching keen river-goers cruising past creating hypnotic ripples and showing off their best watersport tricks. Pair this with Bowhill General Store’s menu of freshly made crowd-pleasers, and you’ll be returning time and time again.

WALK ALONG THE RIVERFRONT
The rumble is that Bowhill has the largest number of shacks along a riverfront of anywhere in Australia…..we challenge you to walk down and count them. You’ll see and hear plenty of kookaburra’s along the way.

RIVER MURRAY INTERNATIONAL DARK SKY RESERVE
Down by the boat ramp is a telescope pad but to be honest you can just use your telescope on our grass or even the naked eye. The stars and sky on a clear night are just spectacular at Bowhill.. For those dark sky chasers out there, recent measurements in the River Murray International Dark Sky Reserve came in at 21.97 – darker than many other accredited regions from across the globe. There are also Stretching across 3,200 square kilometres, the reserve is the only one in Australia and one of only 15 in the world.
There is a River Murray International Dark Sky Information Sheet in the Guest and Visitor Information Folder and it can also be found easily online.

SKIING
Your ski boat’s and jet ski’s are at home at Bowhill and with the boat ramp directly across the road from The Weekender you’re all set!

KAYAKING & PADDLEBOARDING (SUP)
The water is so calm at Bowhill and perfect for kayaking and paddleboarding any time of the day. There are also plenty of lagoons to explore in the backwaters and downstream towards Mannum.

FISHING
Bowhill is one of the best spots at the river for catching callop.

YABBYING
Put some nets out in the lagoon next to the boat ramp when the water is warm and catch some of those yummy ‘river prawns’. Remember to follow the rules from PIRSA.

WHARF
The wharf is a great spot to take some awesome sunset shots and to also drop a line, take a dive, read a book or even keep an eye out for the Murray Princess.

TENNIS
The Bowhill Tennis Courts are just up the road and free for everyone to use.

EXERCISE EQUIPMENT
There is brand new exercise equipment in the playground across the road.

ANZAC WAR MEMORIAL
Next to the boat ramp and wharf is a monument dedicated to the individuals that served in WW1 and WW2 from Bowhill. It has the name of those who served and casts some lovely shadows at sunrise.

FOUR KNOT CRUISESFour Knot Cruises is the best local cruise operator on this part of the Murray. They typically run out of Mannum but give Chad a call and he can work out pick up from the Bowhill Wharf. There are a range of cruises available and/or Chad to put together an itinerary that suits your needs.
