Welcome to The Turtle, a newly built, design-forward luxury cabin created exclusively for couples seeking privacy, connection, and quiet escape. Inspired by rich African influences and tucked into Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, this intimate one-bedroom retreat sits under two hours from DC. Minutes from Luray Caverns, Skyline Drive, and Shenandoah National Park, it’s where romance, nature, and stillness meet.
The space
This cabin feels like a deep breath. Expansive glass walls frame the surrounding forest, inviting golden light, mountain air, and a constant connection to nature. Whether you’re sipping coffee in bed or soaking in the hot tub beneath the stars, the outdoors is always part of the experience.
Inside, the space is warm, elegant, and intentionally curated. The bedroom features a king-size bed positioned in front of a dramatic 7’ x 6’ picture window, perfect for slow mornings wrapped in blankets as sunlight filters through the trees.
In the living area, a modern electric fireplace sets a cozy, intimate mood. A 65” 4K smart TV comes preloaded with all major streaming services, while a PlayStation 5 with access to the Platinum game catalog makes rainy days and late nights feel effortless and fun.
The spa-like bathroom features a fully tiled walk-in shower framed by a stunning 7-foot glass wall that brings the forest indoors. Plush his-and-her robes add a luxurious finishing touch to your post-soak glow.
The kitchenette is designed for simplicity and ritual, equipped with a cooktop, microwave, Keurig, and a large picture window ideal for morning coffee or quiet meals. A discreet 2-in-1 washer and dryer is included for longer stays.
Step outside through the sliding glass doors onto your private deck, complete with a built-in hot tub, propane fire table, and a multifunctional Ninja wood-fired pizza oven perfect for alfresco dinners under the night sky.
Follow the path to an elevated observation deck at the top of the property, where a swinging bench and propane fireplace create a romantic perch for stargazing, sunset watching, and unhurried conversation beneath the open sky.
From the thoughtful design to the natural serenity that surrounds you, The Turtle was created to help you slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with yourself, your partner, and the rhythms of nature.
Whether you’re celebrating something special or simply craving rest and reconnection, this is a place where time softens, and the outside world fades away.

Other things to note
A few notes to make sure this is the right place for you:
Please be advised that The Turtle is a mountain property. Although The Turtle can be reached with a two-wheel drive vehicle regularly, we highly recommend driving an all-wheel or four-wheel-drive vehicle in wet conditions. From November to March, we strongly advise driving a four-wheel-drive vehicle in snowy and wet conditions. While there are plenty of dry days during those months in Virginia, there is simply no way to predict this in advance. Please take this warning seriously, as The Turtle is on a gravel road and although the gravel part of the drive is short, only about 3 minutes, there are some steep sections. We do not offer refunds for cancellations due to weather, so familiarize yourself with related expectations and prepare accordingly before you book.
Waiver of liability for use of the hot tub
The guests agree to use extreme caution and care in the hot tub on the premises and to pay any and all repair charges for damage to the hot tub and/or property caused by the guests. Guests further agree that everyone using a hot tub will shower and clean their feet upon the use of the hot tub.
IMPORTANT
The Turtle is in the mountains and thereby surrounded by a variety of wildlife even a bear possibly. With this in mind, guests must carefully clean up the kitchen every night and securely package all food to prevent pest infestations. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE ANY FOOD OR TRASH OUTSIDE, WHICH WILL ATTRACT WILD ANIMALS.
