Original artwork, eclectic, vintage, and family furnishings are combined to make this a true beach home. Make your memories here and experience living the classic beach lifestyle at The Shack Too.

The space
This is an elevated cottage and is not suitable for infants or toddlers.

This cottage is a raised/on piling type cottage with one flight of outside stairs to the main living level.

Double-size bunk beds sleep one, two, three, or four people comfortably with total head clearance for all. A built-in ladder is provided for top bunk access. These bunks do NOT have rails and are therefore not suitable for young children.

Pets are welcome, but pet details must be provided and approved by the owners BEFORE BOOKING. A $135.00 non-refundable Pet Fee will apply.

Guest access
You have access to the entire cottage and yard, the downstairs laundry and storage, and the outside hot and cold water shower. The 5th street beach is a public beach with a Lifeguard in the season(Memorial Day to Labor Day), with a stoplight crosswalk to walk to the beach, or a private Wright Shores parking lot at the beach access. Wright Shores also has a private neighborhood Sound Front Access at the bayside end of 5th Street you may use.

Other things to note
You will need a pass provided by the home to use the Wright Shores beach parking lot. If you lose the pass there will be a $250 fee to replace the pass.

This is a dog friendly rental. While we and our cleaners are as thorough as possible, If you have pet allergies this listing may not be suitable for you.


Pets must be approved in advance. Please include when booking. 2 dogs maximum. Ssocialized, house-trained, FRIENDLY adult animals ONLY. There is a $135 pet fee. Pet owners must not leave pets unattended in house for long periods without crates unattended. If your dog is a "shedder' we do ask that you reasonably keep up on the hair and do not allow them on beds or other furniture. Pet owners are responsible for cleaning up all pet waste from the yard. If pet waste must be removed after checkout, there is a $250 removal fee.

Please indicate the actual number of guests - including dogs - staying when booking. Outside overnight guests not allowed.

Absolutely NO party groups. Family groups only. The minimum age for renters not accompanied by a family group or parent or guardian is 30 years old.

Please leave the house tidy - basically as you found it.

If you break something, please let us know in advance so we can plan to take care of it. We have dogs and kids and know that "stuff" happens.

If you use the grill, please clean it. Our cleaners do not clean grills.

Yes. Linens and bath towels are included based on number of guests reserved. You bring your own beach towels.

We do ask guests to take the trash carts to the road on the appropriate days - Monday and Thursday nights April through October - and Monday night only in the "off season".

While extremely rare, we are not responsible for power outages or other weather-related issues beyond our control. We are not responsible for internet outages or cell tower disturbances Refunds will not be given for these issues.

Two bicycles are at the cottage for guest use. While we try to maintain them and keep them in good working order, they are NOT a guaranteed amenity and we are not responsible for any equipment malfunction. Use of bikes is at you own risk.

Wright Shores is a quiet residential neighborhood with shopping, restaurants, a movie theater, a bank, a rental car, and Avalon fishing pier within one mile. The 5th Street Beach Access is a 10-minute walk with a stoplight crosswalk or limited parking is available one block from the beach at the Wright Shores beach parking lot (with provided pass). There is a sound front access for the neighborhood less than half a mile to the west on 5th Street and a public boat launch site less than one mile on Kitty Hawk Bay.
