The space
Enjoy the peace and tranquility of Indian River at this cozy 2-bedroom, 1.5-bath cabin, offering stunning riverfront views and all the essentials for a Northern Michigan retreat. With air conditioning for the warm summer months, this cabin is just minutes from golf, biking, and hiking trails. Explore downtown Indian River, Topinabee, Cheboygan, or Mackinaw City—all just a short drive away. Come home to your private getaway for a family BBQ on the deck, or enjoy stargazing or Northern Lights from the fire pit or hot tub!

KITCHEN: Well-equipped with dining seating for 4 plus an additional dining set for 4. Includes newer appliances, cookware, bakeware, utensils, spices, dishware, flatware, and kitchen towels/washcloths.

BEDROOMS: Master bedroom has a king-size bed; second bedroom features a queen bed plus a bunk bed with single beds on top and bottom. All linens, pillows, and blankets supplied.

BATHROOMS: One full bath with shower only and one half bath with toilet and sink. Towels and washcloths included.

ENTERTAINMENT: High-speed Wi-Fi throughout. Living room and master bedroom each feature Smart Samsung TVs with 200+ live channels and thousands of on-demand movies and shows.

RIVERFRONT & OUTDOOR LIVING: Fenced yard (open at riverfront) with 125 feet of private frontage on the famous Indian River at the mouth of Mullett Lake. Enjoy 2 kayaks, an Aqua-Cycle paddleboat, and a canoe for your use. Deck facing the river with private hot tub (usable year-round), patio dining for 6-7, and a propane BBQ with two tanks. Wood-burning fire pit with plenty of chairs. Dock available year-round, accommodating boats up to 30’. Fish for perch, walleye, or bluegill, or paddle along the scenic waterway. Wake to swans, ducks, and resident bald eagles—this is truly a bird lover’s paradise!

STARGAZING & NIGHT SKY: Shooting stars, satellites, occasional UFO sightings, and SpaceX launches are all visible from the cabin on clear nights—perfect for star and UFO enthusiasts.

WINTER ACTIVITIES: Nearby Snowmobile DNR Trail #7 and ski hills for winter sports enthusiasts. Cross-country ski trails nearby with gently sloping, forested terrain. Ample trailer parking available; 4WD/AWD recommended in winter.

GOLF & HIKING: Northern Michigan offers world-class golf resorts and numerous trails for hiking, walking, jogging, and biking.

Other things to note
1-2 dogs are welcome but must be approved prior to booking this rental. Pet fees apply and posted in the House Rules Section. Yard is fenced on 3 sides, open at river and some gaps. NO HUNTING DOGS.

Cabin has well water, we drink it, sometimes you will get the sulfur smell at the initial turning on hot water. We have a Brita filtered pitcher for water in kitchen cabinet/cupboard as well.

One night bookings are 2 guests only.

Late checkout for 1:00, $50 if available and must be set up & paid in advance.

Hot tub water is changed out between guests so may not be hot until early evening. Water comes out of tap at 50 degrees and hot tubs heat up 6-10 degrees an hour with hot tub cover on.

Air Conditioner unit available May-Mid October only-warm months only and is located in living room which cools off cabin perfectly, we also have ceiling fans to circulate air.

We do not supply Beach towels but all the other towels are included.

We are in the middle of a nature preserve so you may encounter geese poop at riverfront mostly in spring/early summer.

Retractable awning/Sunsetter is not for guest usage

We are intentionally located in nature. While we work extremely hard to ensure nature stays outside, please be prepared for the possibility of nature sneaking inside on occasion. If this should happen during your stay, simply contact us immediately and we will come up with a remedy if it hasn't already been in place. We don’t refund for bugs and critters.

Hot Tub Notice:
The home features a private hot tub on the deck, which is professionally maintained and available for guest use. While we do our very best to ensure it is fully operational for every stay, hot tubs are mechanical systems and unexpected issues (such as leaks, heating errors, or weather-related problems) may occasionally occur.

In the rare event the private hot tub becomes unavailable before or during your stay, we will make every reasonable effort to repair it as quickly as possible; however, availability of the hot tub is not guaranteed and does not constitute grounds for refunds or discounts.

Being directly on the river with boats to use and also outdoor hot tub to relax after a day of adventures/day trips which are plentiful in this area and close to just about everything and anything to do at any age group.

The cottage is directly on the Famous Inland Waterway which is Michigan's longest chain of rivers and lakes and this cottage is right at the heart of it! The Inland Waterway, which is more than 40 miles long, runs through Pickerel Lake, Crooked Lake, The Crooked River, Burt Lake, The Indian River, Mullett Lake, The Cheboygan River, and finally into Lake Huron. The Inland Waterway can handle boats up to 65 feet long (18 foot beam) with up to a 5 foot draft. There are 17 species of fish inhabit the waterway whether ice fishing for walleye, spring steelhead, summer perch, trout, bass, or down-rigging for salmon in the Great Lakes, this area has it all.

For fun by land, enjoy the North Central State Trail, a beautiful 62 mile hiking, biking and snowmobiling trail, which passes through Indian River as it connects Gaylord to Mackinaw City. Up for Four-Wheeling, Motorcycling or snowmobiling; check out Tomahawk Trails which provides miles of scenic wilderness. Hunt, fish and play in 180,000+ acres of State Land including the Mackinaw State Forest and lovely Pigeon River Country State Forest, home to Michigan's only free ranging Elk Herd, the largest herd east of the Mississippi. Visit the world's tallest wooden Crucifix at Cross in the Woods.

If you'd rather do something more passive, substitute reading a book by the riverfront having lunch while watching boats pass by on the waterway and sitting by a campfire in the evening! Indian River is located between Burt and Mullett Lakes, two of Michigan's largest inland lakes and are part of the Inland Water Route, a 38 mile chain of lakes and rivers that begins in Conway and empties into Lake Huron at Cheboygan.The lakes and connecting rivers are enjoyed by boaters, kayakers, sailboaters and a wide variety of powerboats! Indian River is a prime fishing destination for both professionals and amateur fishermen but the professionals don't enjoy their catch any more than the five-year-old who catches his or her first fish while fishing with grandpa! Indian River is also at the middle of the North Central State Recreational Trail, a 62 mile trail from Gaylord to Mackinaw City. The Indian River Golf Club has a beautiful 18 hole course and within an hour's drive there are dozens of other 9 and 18 hole courses. The Cross in the Woods is the Worlds largest crucifix. It is one of Michigan's top tourist destinations and draws hundreds of thousands of people to Indian River each year.Indian River is at the northern edge of the Pigeon River Country State Forest, home of the nationals largest wild elk herd east of the Mississippi. The state forest also has miles and miles of forestland for hunting, fishing, mushroom & berry picking, camping and hiking.
