Where you’ll be

Clonbur, Co. Galway, Ireland

Situated on a quiet country road between the historic villages of Cong and Clonbur and the world renowned lakes of Corrib and Mask the barn provides an ideal base for anyone wishing to explore the many delights of the Connemara region.

Within minutes of the Barn are the historic villages of Cong and Clonbur. Cong boasts may tourist attractions including Ashford Castle and Cong Abbey and was the filming location for John Ford's 1952 Oscar-winning film, The Quiet Man, featuring John Wayne, Maureen O'Hara and Barry Fitzgerald. Much of the movie was filmed on the grounds of Ashford Castle. The town and castle area has changed very little since 1952, and Cong's connection with the movie makes it a tourist attraction.

The surrounding area is a walker’s paradise with many tracks and trails through woods, over mountains and along the lakes shores. We have 2 mountain bikes available to hire if cycling is more your thing.

Lough Corrib and Lough Mask are considered among the elite wild brown trout lakes in Europe with Corrib also providing some exciting Salmon fishing.

Philip the owner is an experienced gillie and fishing on both lakes can be arranged.

Activities locally include: Fishing/Walking/Cycling/Corrib Cruise/Golf/Pony Trekking/Falconry

Cong and Clonbur: 3kms
