Welcome to "The Mussel"! Located in the town of Friday Harbor. Our studio condo is a top-floor unit close to the Washington State Ferries and downtown Friday Harbor. It has a full kitchen, bathroom, and sleeping arrangements for 2 people. Free onsite parking, and this unit has **AIR CONDITIONING**!

This space is unique because you not only get a great sleeping and relaxing area but also a full kitchen and bathroom.

Our unit can sleep 2 people comfortably on a queen size bed.

For guests with more than 2 people in their party, there simply is not room in the condo, so we will not allow more than 2 people to stay.

This unit has **AIR CONDITIONING**! Pay a little extra to enjoy a cool room after a long, hot day of exploring the island. Most places on San Juan do not offer A/C.

"The Mussel" is a studio unit (about 350 sf) located within Sandpiper Condominium. Sandpiper Condominium is an older condo complex (built in 1978), but it is updated and maintained. Our condo was completely updated in 2022. Past guests have noted that it has a motel feel to it, but it is safe, quiet, and clean. (Some guests have noted foot traffic and noise can be notable during the day.) This isn't a high end luxury hotel. It is a modest place with basic features. There are 41 condos in the complex. 10 are allowed as vacation rentals while the other 31 are full-time residents.

This unit is not ADA accessible, but there is a ramp leading to the front door. There are no stairs within the unit. There are common areas that you will have access to as a guest (like the laundry room and courtyard), and there is free, open parking on the premises. This unit does not have a dedicated parking space, but there is plenty of open, free parking around the complex and on the street.

The location is close to the Washington State Ferries (8-10 minute walk without luggage), downtown Friday Harbor (5-7 minute walk), the marina (5-7 minute walk), bus lines, and where most tour companies pick up for excursions, yet it is also off the main road where there is a lot of noise and people. If you plan to walk on the ferry and you're bringing a lot of luggage, be aware that it's a bit of an uphill walk from the ferry and the walk will take a little longer because you'll be weighed down with luggage. For those who don't want to walk their bags to the condo, you could take a taxi.

For our coffee loving guests, please note that we have a Keurig coffee machine and only provide a few K-cup pods to get you started. The local market does sell K-cup pods if you should need more.

Guest access
You will have access to the entire unit. There is a smartlock touchscreen keypad on the door, so you can check yourself in on arrival. You also have access to the courtyard/ BBQ area and laundry room. There is also a secure bike rack to lock bikes to close to the unit.
