Centrally located 10 mins from Portola & Graeagle. Our roots here go back generations & we’re happy to help you experience the Lost Sierra like a local.
The space
When you enter The Lost Sierra Lodge, the home opens up with warm gathering spaces, natural light, and room for everyone to spread out comfortably. The layout was intentionally designed for groups - making it easy to spend time together while still having multiple places to relax, play, or step outside.
Some guests gravitate to the pool hall, others to the great room or deck, but the Lodge flows naturally between spaces so no one ever feels crowded.
------------------- Great Room – Kitchen, Dining & Living-------------------
The great room is where most groups naturally come together - for shared meals, movie nights, or winding down after a day out.
A spacious open layout includes comfortable seating, a 75-inch Smart TV with guest mode, and a wood stove for cozy evenings. Multiple charging stations with USB-A, USB-C, and standard outlets are positioned throughout the room. A guitar is always available for guests who want to play, and a piano restoration is currently in progress.
------------------- Pool Hall -------------------
A dedicated entertainment space designed for relaxed evenings and easy group hangouts.
The pool hall features an 8-foot pool table, bar seating, and a comfortable lounge area. A Bluetooth soundbar sets the atmosphere, and French doors open directly to the deck and gas fire pit - creating a seamless indoor-outdoor flow.
------------------- Game Room -------------------
A professional 8-person poker table anchors the game room and often becomes the center of late-night competition. Chips and cards are provided, and the convertible top functions as a puzzle or game table. When needed, this space can also serve as additional dining room seating for larger meals.
------------------- Fully Stocked Kitchen & Dining -------------------
This kitchen was built for real group cooking - not just reheating leftovers.
The space is fully equipped to prepare meals for up to ten guests, with complete place settings for everyone. You’ll find both formal and disposable dinnerware, including plates, bowls, wine glasses, tumblers, flatware, and steak knives.
Cooking & prep equipment includes:
- 14-piece ceramic cookware set
- Knife block with sharpener
- Cutting boards, baking trays, muffin tins
- Mixing bowls, measuring cups, and a wide range of utensils
Small appliances:
- KitchenAid stand mixer
- Blender
- Rice cooker
- Popcorn machine (bring kernels)
- Crockpots
- Air fryer / toaster oven combo
The pantry is stocked with over 20 spices and staples, including BBQ rubs, flour, sugars, pancake mix, and maple syrup to keep cooking simple.
A dedicated coffee & tea station includes a drip coffee maker, K-Cup machine, complimentary coffee and pods (including decaf), an electric kettle, and Earl Grey and green tea.
A built-in desk with USB charging is integrated into the cabinetry, and the Wi-Fi router is centrally located for strong, reliable coverage throughout the home.
------------------- Wraparound Deck & Backyard -------------------
The expansive wraparound deck is a favorite gathering spot, offering outdoor dining for ten, a BBQ grill, a gas fire pit, and a 7-person hot tub (please bring your own pool towels).
In the backyard, two disc golf baskets provide a casual activity between meals or outings.

------------------- Infants -------------------
We provide a high chair and a Pack ’n Play. Please bring your own baby bedding. Outlets throughout the home have infant safe covers.
------------------- Our Story & Local Connections -------------------
This home is more than a rental. Built by my parents in the late 1980s, it remains a deeply cared-for family property. Renting it seasonally allows us to preserve a place that has been part of our family’s story for generations.
Our roots in the Lost Sierra go back to the 1800s, and we love sharing what makes this area special - from golf courses and wedding venues to trails, breweries, scenic drives, and optional in-home services like yoga, bartending, and catering.
After booking, you’ll receive access to our digital guidebook, packed with thoughtfully curated local recommendations to make planning easy and your stay exceptional.
Guest access
The home is located approximately 0.2 miles up a sedan-accessible dirt road. Please drive slowly and respect the quiet mountain neighborhood.
Guests have full access to all living spaces, except for two locked housekeeping closets. The attached garage, detached shop, attic, basement, and pumphouse are not accessible and are reserved for owner storage and housekeeping use.
Other things to note
------------------- Dog Policy -------------------
Well-behaved dogs are welcome with prior approval, as we know many guests travel with their four-legged family members.
-Up to two dogs are permitted
-A $50 per dog, per stay fee applies and is reflected in the listing
-Please include all dogs in your reservation so the home can be prepared properly
If an undisclosed animal is discovered, we may request reimbursement through Airbnb’s Resolution Center for any documented additional cleaning or damage. This policy helps us fairly compensate our cleaners and ensure the home is ready for future guests.
------------------- Winter Travel & Snow Conditions -------------------
The Lodge is a true mountain property, and winter weather is part of the experience.
From November through April, guests should be prepared for snow, ice, and changing road conditions. Depending on weather, AWD or 4WD with snow tires and/or chains may be necessary.
-Our standard Airbnb cancellation policy applies
-Refunds are not provided due to weather, snow depth, or road conditions
We make reasonable efforts to plow the driveway and access road as snow accumulates, but snow removal is not a guaranteed amenity and conditions may vary during storms or periods of heavy snowfall.
Shovels are provided for walkways, decks, and light snow removal. Guests are responsible for arriving prepared for winter conditions and using appropriate footwear and caution around the property. Most guests have no issues at all, but preparation is essential during winter months.
------------------- Exterior Security Cameras -------------------
For guest safety and property protection, there are two exterior security cameras on site:
-One at the front door
-One facing the driveway and parking area
These cameras monitor exterior entry areas only. There are no cameras inside the home or in any private spaces. Footage may be used if needed to verify occupancy limits, pet policies, or house rules.
------------------- Cleaning -------------------
A $250 standard cleaning fee applies to all reservations.
For stays longer than eight nights, a required mid-stay cleaning is scheduled on the ninth day ($250). This helps maintain the home and ensures it remains comfortable throughout longer stays. This is not a daily housekeeping service.
------------------- RV Parking & Hookup -------------------
RV parking is permitted with prior approval.
-RVs may not be used to increase guest occupancy
-An RV hookup is available for $50 per night when arranged in advance
If applicable, the hookup fee will be requested through Airbnb’s Resolution Center after booking.
------------------- Early Check-In & Late Check-Out -------------------
We’re happy to accommodate early check-in or late check-out whenever possible.
Because of the size of the home and the time required for a full turnover, availability depends on our cleaning schedule and adjacent bookings. In some cases, when we have same-day arrivals or departures, an expedited turnover may be available as a $100 upgrade, but this can only be confirmed closer to your stay.
When we can make it work, we’re always glad to do so.
