Propane grill stores in the garage for outdoor grilling. *The kitchen has a coffee pot that uses a filter as well as a keurig*

We are located in a rural area in the Southern portion of the Adirondack Park. A short drive to Utica and in a good location if you choose to go deeper into the park for day excursions.

The closest grocery store (Desantis market) is about a 20-minute drive in the Town of Barneveld via Rt. 365. There are restaurants/pubs in town (Haskell's Inn and The Ohio Tavern), however, it is a good idea to plan and bring groceries and food with you that you will need during your stay.

FISHING: Since we are located on the West Canada Creek, we are in an ideal spot for trout fishing when the river is stocked in late Spring. There are many other nearby fishing spots we would also be happy to recommend.

KAYAKING: There are plenty of great spots to check out in the area for kayaking and canoeing. Let us know if you need recommendations.

HIKING: If you are looking for hikes, plan to do a day trip to your destination (Panther mountain, bald mountain, Pixley Falls, etc). These are not too far of a drive and you can plan a fun day around your hike depending on the location. (For your safety, please be sure to take the proper precautions for any kind of hike you take.)

SNOWMOBILING: The lazy lodge is a great location for snowmobilers as we are situated close to the intersections of Herkimer County Snowmobile Trails C4, C4H, C4B. Check the Ohio Ridge Riders website for up-to-date conditions of trails and trail maps of the area.
If you are looking to book for the upcoming winter, we are in a great location! We live locally, so we will always be here to plow the driveway and to have the walkways shoveled so you can get in and out without a problem.

SNOWSHOEING and CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING: Check out the BREIA trail system in nearby Boonville for groomed cross-country and Snowshoeing trails. They also have snowshoe rentals!

DOWNHILL SKIING AND TUBING: Check out McCauley Mountain in Old Forge or Oak Mountain in Speculator

HUNTING: The Lazy Lodge is also an ideal place for avid hunters. Please contact us if you need any information about hunting in the area. There is a lot of State Land surrounding the Lazy Lodge that is legal to hunt.

There are many other great activities in the area. With a little planning, we think you will enjoy your stay at the Lazy Lodge. Please be sure to let us know how we can help you!

Guest access
Guests have access to the entire cabin, the large garage, the pavilion, the grassed area at the rear of the house that leads down to the creek. The garage has horseshoes (horseshoe pits in back), corn hole, a croquet set, and other outdoor games. There is also a gas grill for outside cooking, and a fire pit out back too. firewood for the wood stove is provided free-of-charge. If you have any questions, Richard and Diane are very knowledgeable about the area and can give you great recommendations about restaurants, hiking, fishing, boating, and hunting.

**If you plan on using the fireplace inside, Richard will be sure to show you how to safely use it. Please be sure to leave the door closed at all times when fire is going and especially when you leave the house! If you have question, please don't hesitate to call and ask!

** Swimming/tubing in the river behind the house is at your own risk. Please be sure to monitor your children in the water as the current can be swift at times. It is a rocky riverbed, so you will need water shoes and your own inner tubes. Have Fun!
