This perfectly designed mid-century home has been deeply cared for since it was built by highly skilled craftsmen in 1968. Our loving and detailed renovation accentuates the gorgeous original features, while adding layers of modern design details, fun, and premium comfort. Come relax in our traditional Japanese home in the charming, retro onsen town of Ito on the Izu Peninsula.

The space
There is a large Towada stone and hinoki-lined bath, a cozy dining room, and a karaoke room with a nod to Ito's showa-era "snack bar” (​​スナックバー) culture.

The house has four main rooms, with two used for sleeping/living, one for dining, and one for karaoke/lounging/relaxing/working and TV.

The house accommodates up to six people in two tatami rooms separated by sliding doors.

The kitchen is generously appointed with all that you need for cooking for large groups, and there is an outdoor Weber gas BBQ grill.

The large bath has a private garden and dressing room.

The house is surrounded by greenery with flowers for nearly every season, and the ocean can be viewed from the sleeping areas, engawa, and the small deck that spans one side of the house.

Street parking at the house is available, though it is technically not permitted in Ito City in general (please message us with questions, as there is more I can share with you)
Pay parking is available at Ito Station (15 minute walk)

No parties or events allowed
No uninvited guests allowed to stay overnight

The house is also nestled into a STEEP hillside in the countryside, and so nature's smaller creatures occasionally make an appearance

The house is only reachable by climbing a set of 40 stairs, and we apologize that it is not suitable for guests with mobility access needs.

Since it is an older house, it requires being treated with care, gentleness, and respect

The walk to and from Ito town is more pleasant if you walk through Mega Don to get to the oceanside road. This road can also be reached through the 7-11 parking lot. The "service" road that you typically drive on is not that pleasant for walking (no sidewalk), so adding 1-2 minutes to your walk to use a sidewalk is probably worth it :)

We will send you taxi directions in both English and Japanese, as well as a location pin. It can be a little hard to find at first, though we promise to provide detailed directions!

***There is no cleaning fee. We incorporate the cleaning into the overall price of the space. It is common in Japan to have rates that reflect the number of guests**

***We must follow Japanese law with regard to requesting guest identification prior to your arrival. I will send a form for you to fill out, or you can share the information via Airbnb's messaging system.

Nestled up on a steep hill across from a stream, the house is in a small residential street with a handful of neighboring homes. The layout of the house provides plenty of privacy.

Marine Town shopping area, a Don Quijote, and small restaurants are within a five minute walk.

Ito town is a 15 minute walk.
