Slow mornings, quiet evenings and a space designed for comfort. Our renovated, self-contained two-bedroom annexe at The Granary sits opposite Dyfi Forest and on the edge of Snowdonia National Park. Perfect for walking, cycling or running straight from the door, with the Mach Loop overhead, scenic trails on your doorstep, and stunning beaches just 20 minutes away. Relax, explore, and reconnect with nature.

The space
Welcome to The Granary – our home, not a hotel. We’ve kept things simple, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed for your stay, with plenty of space for friends, family, or four-legged companions.

Corris feels like a giant hug – welcoming and peaceful – and we aim to extend that warmth into The Granary. The main living space has two entrances, perfect for returning from the village shop or after a muddy adventure.

Cyclists and walkers will appreciate our internal bike storage and wash-down area, so you can clean your gear and head straight to the shower. We provide shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and dark towels for removing makeup.

The open-plan kitchen and large table with bench seating make meal prep and dining a pleasure. Whether you choose to cook or grab something from the village, we’ve provided everything you need, including a starter pack of loo rolls, kitchen roll, salt, pepper, oils, and basic herbs/spices. Towels are provided for each guest; please bring your own for the beach or rivers.

Important notes:

Our home is not suitable for those with pet allergies or those needing step-free access.

Laundry is done in-house, so you may occasionally hear the washing machine or tumble dryer – this keeps costs down, allowing lower nightly rates.

We do not provide EV charging, though there is a point in Mach town centre car park.

We can only accept well-behaved, fully house-trained dogs, never left unattended in The Granary.

We cannot accept responsibility for lost or stolen items. Please lock bikes indoors and ensure appropriate travel insurance.

The Granary is your calm, comfortable base to explore Dyfi Forest, Snowdonia, the Mach Loop, and beaches just 20 minutes away. We hope you relax, explore, and enjoy the very best of our village and countryside.

Guest access
Relax in the open-plan living space, with a large oak table and bench seating, two comfortable sofas, and a sunny bay window seat overlooking the south-facing front of the house – perfect for reading, relaxing, or gathering with friends and family.

The kitchen, just off the living area, lets you cook while staying part of the conversation.

Outside, enjoy a private patio with a bench and hammock seat (spring through autumn), plus a communal slate seating area and picnic benches just opposite.

As part of our commitment to the Dyfi Biosphere, we use a sustainable air source heat pump instead of an oil system – details are in the welcome pack.

Other things to note
Corris is a charming village where locals look out for one another and are always happy to share tips on walks, cafés, and amenities.

We’re delighted to help with suggestions or bookings where we can, but please note that we cannot take responsibility for external trips, excursions, or bookings, and may not always be immediately contactable.

The weather here is wonderfully changeable, which can occasionally affect TV, internet, or mobile signal. We provide a battery-powered lamp on the bookshelf “just in case.”

The nearby town of Machynlleth offers everything you might need, including cafés, takeaways, a Co-op, Spar, bakeries, delis, a chemist, and newsagents.

Please help us keep the surroundings tidy: if you smoke, use the metal flowerpot on the patio; if you have a dog, please use the poo bin opposite the house. Extra bags are provided on the shelf in the utility hallway.

Neighborhood highlights

We moved here in December 2020 and it feels like we have always been here. If wellbeing and mindfulness is at the top of your list you are in the right place. The robins feed out of your hands, the goodies sold in the village shop Idris Stores are wonderful and the people here are just lovely.

If you don't fancy cooking then we are surrounded by local restaurants and bars that have great local ales and ciders and serve delicious food. It's often worth booking if you want a table as most of the restaurants and bars get very busy or are on limited availability.

Within a few minutes you can be in the Dyfi Forest and if mountains are more your thing Cadair Idris is just 3 miles down the road past the amazing Corris Craft Centre just above us where you can purchase locally made chocolate, jewellery, gifts and the local gin which is definitely worth trying.

Hi! Ant and I were lucky enough to move to Corris in December 2020 and have loved every day we have been here. We both enjoy the outside life - we run, walk and Ant paramotors and of course being so close to the coast aswell love getting out onto the beach. Both of us are first responders and are usually on hand if needed as live next door to the cottages.
