Nestled between the barn and the milking parlor is The Creamery; a relaxing spot to spend a few days far from the rigors of the city. Here we made Dinah's Cheese for years, and now you can enjoy the sunrise from the comfort of your plush bed, warmed by the thick down comforter. The French Limousin cows may come up to your bedroom window, curious as to who is sharing the pastures this morning. The quiet will be startling, with little noise but coffee brewing in the kitchen.
The space
Originally designed as a simple masonry building built to house cheese vats and aging coolers, it has been transformed into a lush spot for you to call home. The views from the bedroom are of the cow barn and its yard; from the living room of the full upper pastures and the other farm buildings. The bathroom is a bright open space to relax and refresh in the morning. And a compact but very efficient kitchen is perfect for those days when you want to stay in, prepare a few tasty things for yourselves and enjoy your time together in peace.

Coming to the Island is always a calming experience. As you drive off the ferry boat, all worries are left behind and the short ten minute drive to the farm is simple. Once you leave the main road and head down the long driveway, the pastures open up and another world lies before you. It is open and bright, pastoral; your idyll for the next few days. A parking space is adjacent to The Creamery and the entrance right there.
You are welcome to explore the farm while you are here, staying aware of the cows and their desire to explore beyond the fences and gates as well.
Also at the farm is the Cookhouse, the large timber framed kitchen where cooking classes and art classes are held during the summer weekends. The class schedule is available at the Kurtwoodfarms website. The ideal retreat would be to book classes while you are staying here and make it a full, rich weekend.

Neighborhood highlights
Located just east of the town of Vashon on Vashon Island, the farm is just a two minute drive to the island's restaurants, stores and coffee shops. A few minutes drive the other direction is KVI beach, the nearest sandy spot on the water. The farm is located well off of the road and is very private and quiet.
