Located near Kirriemuir, The Cairn is a cosy, self contained guest suite with its own entrance adjoining our home at North Lodge of Lindertis. Tastefully furnished, this one-bedroom hideaway offers a base from which to explore the Angus coast, glens and Southern Cairngorms and is just seven miles away from Glamis Castle.
The Cairn has a comfortable lounge, well-equipped kitchen, one bedroom with ensuite shower and toilet, an enclosed garden with field views and easy access to adjacent woodland.
The space
Arriving at The Cairn, guests are requested to park to the left of the gravel drive. There is security lighting on a sensor to guide guests to access the property via a side gate into a small enclosed garden with a large patio and outside seating. The feeders in our garden entice an amazing array of bird life and the area around us is home to a profusion of wildlife including deer, red squirrels, badgers and red kites. There are open field views and easy access from the driveway to a track at the side of the house. Obtaining the key from the key safe for self-check-in gives guests access into the kitchen. This is a modern, well appointed space with a breakfast bar, cooker, hob, microwave, air fryer, washing machine, iron, fridge, kettle, toaster and Nespresso coffee machine. There is a dedicated coat hanging/drying and boot storage bench area.
A low step up takes guests into a small hallway with a large wall mounted map of the area which makes for easy planning of those day trips and onward journeys. The bedroom is to the right, with a super-king or two single beds option, a hanging rail and a dressing table. The bedroom looks out onto the driveway with big field views beyond. There is an ensuite shower room and toilet with complimentary toiletries. From the kitchen, there is a small corridor with the lounge on the left. This small cosy space which we call the ‘Coo’ Room' looks out onto the garden. There is a large comfy sofa, smart TV and a tasteful highland cow theme.
As hosts we reside in a separate part of the property. There is a locked door between our living space and that of our guests and we will normally be at home should guests require anything.

Our home, North Lodge of Lindertis, has been renovated and extended over the years. It is situated on the edge of the Lindertis Estate and is one of 4 gate lodge houses. Lindertis house, now demolished, was most notably the home of Sir Hugh Munro, 4th Baronet of Lindertis. He was founder of the Scottish Mountaineering Society and gave his name to 'The Munros'
