Whanganui Awa became the first waterway in the world to get legal personhood, in 2017. Staying next to her in "The Braeburn" is a rare opportunity to come inside this often admired building. On the second floor in the main wing with a huge exclusive NON SMOKING balcony, is your truly blissful escape. Come watch the sunsets, and pour yourself a drink. Slow down, relax and enjoy.
The apartment has a kitchenette, queen bed with a quality new mattress and linen, TV and clawfoot bath. No shower.
The space
Mind all the stairs! Second floor apartment with its own huge balcony. French styled generous sized studio. Memorable sunsets, bath only with shower handset for hair rinse.
We have 2 cats who like to meet our guests. BEAN is (too) friendly and will come in the window. He is black and fluffy.
Duchess Bellamy of Braeburn (Bells) will usually judge you from a distance. She is a brown tabby.

You have exclusive use of Apartment 11 and the balcony. You may use the onsite coin operated laundry downstairs and the back courtyard area. You may use the carpark next to the building.
Other things to note
We have stairs! Lots of them! (60) Best not to bring a huge heavy suitcase.
The water in Whanganui is hard ie contains lime. Please drink the bottled water and use it in the kettle. Run the tap for a bit in the mornings until it looks clear.
We sometimes get ants. Just keeping it real! Throw your trash out with you in the morning, Big bins are in the carpark.
And once again...bath only.

Visting here is awesome! Full of art, markets, wonderful kai, gardens and coffee. Walks alongside the awa and into town are right on your doorstep.
