The Art House is a thoughtfully restored 1950s desert home surrounded by hundreds of miles of uninterrupted Mojave views. Set on 2.5 fenced acres, this two-bedroom retreat features freestanding soaking tubs, a hot tub, cowboy pool, outdoor cinema, and inspiring design details.

Just 15 minutes to Joshua Tree Village and 20 to the park, it’s the perfect place to relax, reconnect, and be inspired.

The space
Originally built as a homesteader cabin, The Art House has been lovingly expanded into a 1,900-square-foot creative refuge. Every space blends comfort and personality—from its reclaimed wood dining tables to its panoramic windows framing miles of desert and mountain views.

Other things to note
We have thoughtfully renovated the house but it's still a little quirky (some light switches are in strange places!) We love that it has character and we hope you fall for its charm too. If you find anything not working or missing please let us know personally straight away rather than leaving it in a review. Your comfort - as well as our 5 star ratings! - are important to us.

Some roads are unpaved but accessible; higher clearance is helpful but not necessary.

Pets: Up to two dogs allowed ($95 fee). No cats.

Quiet hours: 10 PM – 8 AM

Parties and events are not allowed.

The home uses a septic system, please flush toilet paper only.

Children should be supervised outdoors.

Wood stove is decorative only.

Wildlife:

You may spot rabbits, roadrunners, lizards, coyotes, and other desert creatures. The desert is peaceful but alive with nature. Keep doors closed and food sealed, and enjoy the quiet beauty of this high-desert landscape.
