Comfy bed for better sleep

The room-darkening shades and extra bedding are loved by guests.
Set on 39 acres on the Far South Coast you'll find a cleared block of land in the bush, a place called Sugar Rock Ranch. Located opposite the northern end of the Beowa National Park in Eden, the perfect location for eco-conscious travellers in search of getaways full of quiet, nostalgia and adventures outdoors.

Things are kept simple here, the atmosphere is relaxed and casual (like it’s owners) the way a cabin in the bush should be with a down-to-earth feel and a great appreciation for nature.

The space
Our Barn Studio was hand-built over 30 years ago with timber felled and milled on the property. Put simply it's an open plan studio apartment with inside walls lined with beautiful hardwood timber, a soft queen bed, basic kitchenette and modern eco bathroom. A comfy sofa to rest after adventures in the surrounding National Parks, equipped with a record player and library of books for the unwind.

Cook up a bbq on the deck overlooking the dam or follow the stairs down to a private fire-pit where you can listen to the sounds of nature and gaze at the stars.

The Barn Studio is set for remote working you'll find the comfort you need with WIFI, mains power, adequate water tank and other useful amenities.

The Building
The Barn studio is in a standalone building adjacent to the main Barn residence. Built with timber felled and milled from the past on the property the Barn Studio. The walls lined with timber makes this stay feel authentic and warm.

Bedroom
A comfy queen bed with Pony Rider organic canvas duvet, eco-friendly feather pillows, and loads of blankets to keep you toasty through the night. You’ll find a lamp by the bedside to snuggle in with a good book from our in-cabin library.

Kitchenette
A small camp stove top with a few pots and pans, a kettle and ceramic mugs and a Chemex coffee pot. The cupboards are stocked with your cooking basics like salt, pepper, olive oil, coffee, tea and sugar.

Living
There’s nothing like a comfy couch after a long day of hiking in the forest, you’ll find one of those here. Along with a Pony Rider bean bag when you want to get #ranchorelaxo. We have an oil heater to keep you warm at night when you're not outside by the fire.

Bathroom
In a modern design find a hot shower complete with Pendleton towels, organic soap, shampoo and conditioner, hand sanitiser and a composting toilet. Everything you need and nothing you don't.

In-Studio
You won’t find any tv’s here, sorry Netflix will have to wait, you will make memorable moments playing cards, delving into a good book from our library, spinning vinyl on the record player or trying to roll a Yahtzee - how many can you roll?

Outside
Down the stairs you'll find a private fire pit surrounded by the native gardens you'll be equipped with outdoor cooking equipment to cook meals on the campfire. On the deck you'll find a Weber and an outdoor dining space overlooking the ranch dam.

Guest access
Some days you just won't want to leave there's lots to do and a whole lotta nothin depending on how you feel. You have access to explore our foggy fields, feel refreshed with a bush walk through our pine forest or enjoy sips of local craft beer down by the dam.

Bush walks
The ranch has a few bush trails which of course we encourage you to do. Take a walk through the pine forest and breathe in that fresh, pure scent of nature. Over the hill you'll find our sugar rocks scattered on the path, collecting rocks is a favourite past-time, good for the mind and soul.

The Dam
The ranch dam is our own waterway of life, it provides water for our wildlife residents and provides the perfect backdrop to an afternoon of slow activity, relaxation and fun times. Take a picnic, a few local brews and nestle into a good book or try and roll a Yahtzee!

Cooking outdoors
On the ranch we're all about the outdoors, there's nothing quite like a meal cooked over a campfire. Make delicious jaffles or slow cook a stew, maybe give a steak or two a whirl using our provided Barebones cast iron cookware. You have access to two fire-pits where you can enjoy our property and your campfire cook.

Other things to note
Privacy
The Barn Studio is literally next door in a separate building to the Barn (our house) and has been altered to provide privacy. It has it's own entry walkway, car spot dedicated for guests (you'll see the signs when you arrive), a private fire-pit and private deck with outdoor setting.

Shared Spaces
From time to time during holiday season we may have friends and family also staying with us in the barn (our house), we all do our best to maintain privacy and enjoy the shared spaces of the property. You might hear us throwing our doggo the ball on the front lawn, enjoying dinner in our outdoor space or us working around the property. We leave our guests undisturbed as much as possible.

Composting Toilet
In our effort to become carbon neutral we want to reduce our waste as much as possible and give back to nature the good waste from food and our bodies - thats composting. Our waterless toilet system is uniquely designed to break down our bodily waste into harmless compost which is used to feed vegetation - we know you're thinking drop toilet but it's a little more advanced than that haha! You use it like a regular toilet without the flush, just give it a dust of hemp and let the compost do it's thing. Just don't put anything else in the toilet (including sanitary waste) and in a short time we'll have no waste at all.

Firewood
We absolutely provide firewood in our firewood rack, you can also collect your own from the firewood shed found along the fence towards the back of the property approx. 100m from the Barn Studio.

What's NOT included?
You won't find a bathtub or washing machine, air-conditioning, high chairs or cots, but everything else we can think of is provided. If you have something specific you need to know shoot us a message.
