Colorful, bright, and comfortable artist's studio house on a serene dead-end road nestled between old-growth forests, a spring-fed pond, and a river. View the mountains from your dining table and wake up to sunlight pouring in all around you. Sleep in a loft above a simple yet fully equipped kitchen, and use the woodstove for a cozy night in. Enjoy a spa-style shower with window out onto the forest beyond. This is an ideal space for a couple seeking a relaxing, creative retreat in the woods.

The space
We are on 17 private acres that abut the forever-wild Catskill State Park Forest. Our place is on a dead-end dirt road frequented mainly by hikers who drive up to climb a bushwack trail that's just a short walk from the studio house. Our property looks out over a private spring-fed pond, which flows into a beautiful river right across the road (and the sound of the river serenades the whole property!).

When we're not renting it, we invite artists and friends to stay in our Studio House—so, you'll find that the space has a lot of creative flair, with plenty of art, books, plants, and color. The house was once an old stone garage, and you can see traces of what once was by the stone interior shelving and the large french doors in the front of the house. It is a cozy size with a warm wood stove (only for use by those with experience building fires, please!), and has everything you'll need for a fun getaway in the woods. The house gets great light, and the surrounding area is truly beautiful. You can walk up the road and enjoy the sounds and sights of the river, or drive to many nearby hiking, fishing, antiquing, and dining destinations. We have a ton of recommendations for local things to do, and will share them in our house guide once you book.

Guest access
The house is private. And you're welcome to wander the property and explore!

Other things to note
The spiral staircase up to the sleeping loft is a bit narrow and steep. It's not safe for children.

I work in publishing and the arts, and live in New York’s Catskill Mountains. I’m originally from Vermont, and have also lived in Brooklyn (3 years) and San Francisco (7 years). I love a good sunset + beer + beach combo, and take a lot of pleasure in spending time with my husband, son, and pup out in nature.
