Named after John Steinbeck, the Steinbeck Room is the only room in the house that has access to a balcony with direct view outside the street

Mindfully decorated and equipped with touches of Baba Nyonya culture and custom made wooden furnitures, Steinbeck Room is alluring and cozy - a perfect place for you to take a break, rest and recharge your creative energy.

Note: Due to the room facing the street, the street noises are quite audible. Not recommended if you have low noise tolerance.

The space
Stepping into the house is to walk into loose pages of a book. A non-linear narration that invites one to discover a story within the building. With an unconventional yet seamless combination of Select Store, Diner & Recess, we invite you to experience the inner surroundings like an observant writer, a hungry reader, or a casual explorer.

Other things to note
1) Private bathroom is not ensuite. It’s located down the hallway (5-10 meter) and only accessible by the room owner.

2) Low sound proof. Due to heritage zone building code, we have to maintain most of the original building structure (e.g timber flooring) which have low sound proof. You might hear some noises (e.g foot steps) from the hallway or from the streets during your stay.
