Featured by Washingtonian Magazine as one of the best Airbnbs for Fall Hiking, Shenandoah Stargazer Cottage offers a woodsy retreat situated at the end of private drive surrounded by trees on 3-acres. Restored in 2023, the cottage boasts new appliances, heating/cooling & Starlink WiFi. One minute from the Shenandoah River public boat launch, 12 min to Luray Caverns, and 25 min to the Shenandoah National Park, it is the perfect spot to relax or explore.
The space
Enjoy the coziness of a cottage in the woods without sacrificing modern conveniences! Located just off Egypt Bend Road, you reach the cottage via a private, gravel driveway. You can comfortably park up to 3 cars.
KITCHEN:
We love to cook and therefore the kitchen features granite countertops, brand new appliances, and quality knives and pans. Everything you need to make a meal and then some!
LAYOUT:
The main level of the home has a newly renovated kitchen, with stainless steel appliances, and coffee/tea bar. The large living/dining area is bright and airy and is anchored by a brick fireplace. There is a full bath (shower only), laundry area and workstation.
The cottage sleeps up to four guests with bedrooms located on the second floor. The primary bedroom features a king bed, walk-in closet and private balcony. The second bedroom has two twin beds and an ensuite (shower only).
OUTDOORS:
Situated on just over three acres, the area is heavily wooded. You are welcome to explore, but be advised that terrain is uneven. Property boundaries are marked with neon pink flags. Just off the kitchen, the front deck is a great area to grill on the Blackstone griddle
The back deck has an outdoor dining set for meals al fresco and a comfortable seating area. Down a short, gravel path, the fire pit area has a Hot Shot stove (similar to a SoloStove) that allows you to enjoy evening fires with minimal smoke and is surrounded by solar twinkle lights.
KID FRIENDLY:
Traveling with kids is both rewarding and a lot of work! To ease the burden, we provide the following:

INTERNET:
Unlimited high-speed Starlink WIFI provided; network and passcode are posted in the living room. Smart (Roku) TVs allow guests to stream from their own accounts (no cable).

We provide all linens and towels to ensure your have a comfortable stay.
TOILETRIES

Guest access
SELF CHECK-IN
Upon arrival, you will access the cottage via an electronic keypad located above the front door handle. You will receive the code for the keypad prior to arrival. Guests will have access to the entire cottage with the exception of the owner's storage closet. A full welcome guide with house rules and area information will be available in the home and online via our website.
Other things to note
INCLEMENT WEATHER
Access to the cottage is down a short, private, gravel drive just off of Egypt Bend Road (VDOT maintained). Please note that if snow or ice is possible during your stay, four wheel drive is may be advisable. During other seasons and when there is no snow, we frequently access the cabin in our minivan without issue :)
NOISE
The adjacent neighborhood community has a noise ordinance between 10:00 PM and 8:00 AM. We ask that guests help us be good neighbors and kindly refrain from loud noises during this timeframe.
SEPTIC SYSTEM
The cottage has a septic system. Grease and oil must never be allowed down any of the sink drains. Food particulars should be scrapped into a trashcan prior to rinsing in the sink. Feminine hygiene products must be thrown away in the trash can and not flushed down a toilet. Never flush solid trash down the toilet with the exception of natural waste.
