Located just 1 mile off Hwy 111. Sunset Marina-4 miles. Star Point Resort-5 miles. Eagles Cove-7 miles. Uptown shopping and restaurants-also 2-3 miles. Very peaceful setting with beautiful surrounding views. Stunning park-like setting around back and south side. Large front porch for enjoying coffee/tea while watching the sunrise or relaxing any time of day. There is a fire ring out front. Firewood can be purchased at the Exxon on the way in, 1 mile from the house. Room for boat parking.
The space
Shady Rest has 3 bedrooms, 1 which doubles as a sitting room/reading room with a beautiful view of the back. This room also has stackable washer and dryer unit and the couch has a trundle bed which is suitable for 1 adult or 2 small children. There is 1 full bathroom with a walk-in shower and vanity sink. Also features a full kitchen with plenty of cabinets and shelves for storing your food. There is a large picture window in the living room with a beautiful view of the rolling hills of the Cumberland Plateau and beautiful sunrises. The side and back yards are very picturesque in a park-like setting. Sit on the upper deck in the summer time, and you will feel like you are in a tree house. We are in the central time zone. This is a residential area. The house sits on 3 acres.
Guest access
Guests have access to the entire upstairs and can pass through the gameroom and down the basement steps to an entryway which leads to the back patio area under the deck.
The lower back patio area can also be accessed by steps from the upper deck.
Other things to note
Registered Guests: This is a no party home. We respect our neighbors by allowing only registered guests in our home during each stay. If you have friends or family in the area who are going to come over, please include them in your booking email or contact us for approval.
Pets: We are unable to accommodate pets at this time. Please respect that we are an allergen free home for future guests. If evidence of a pet is found, unfortunately we will have to charge an additional cleaning fee of a minimum of $500.
Smoking or Vaping: Smoking or vaping are not allowed on the premises. If any evidence of this is found, fees incurred from smoke remediation services will be billed to your account. Also, $100 fee for removal of any litter from smoking or vaping will be required.
House Rules & Check-out Instructions: There will be an extra cleaning fee charged if the House Rules and Check-out Instructions are not followed. House Rules and Check-out Instructions can be found both in this listing as well as in the House Manual that sits on the dining room table of this property.
Please be extremely careful to NOT get off the road and into the yard across from our property when backing in or out of the driveway. Host is happy to assist with maneuvering in/out of the driveway if needed.
Guests can feel free to enjoy the park-like setting out back. The property boundary is marked with an old barbwire fence.
There is a propane fireplace in the living room in case there is a power outage during winter months. If the power goes out, please contact the host. The gas will need to be turned on.
We do have furniture for the upper deck. We keep it in the basement during the winter and bring it back out for the spring, summer and fall.
Please do not light a campfire on windy days. If in doubt, ask the host first. State burn permit required Oct. 15 - May 15. Ask host for more information about the burn permit.
The dining room table seats 6. There are 4 chairs around the table. The other 2 chairs are in Bedroom 1 and Bedroom 2. Feel free to put them around the table if needed.
