Beautiful area

This home is in a scenic location.

Room in a bed and breakfast

Your own room in a home, plus access to shared spaces.
One double room with comfortable king size bed and private bathroom with bath and shower (not ensuite, but right beside the bedroom and for your exclusive use). The bedroom is on the first floor, west facing, with stunning, open views across the sea to the Isles of Skye, Rum and Eigg. There is a TV/DVD player and a kettle in the room. There is a dining table and chairs in the room so you can enjoy breakfast in your own space.

The space
My house is cosy, warm and comfortable, with stunning views in all directions. It is very peaceful. The room is a generous size. There is underfloor heating and an air re-circulation system keeps the air fresh.
The house is close to beautiful sandy beaches and is a pleasant 20 minute walk to Arisaig village, where you will find eateries, shop, marina with boat trips to the Small Isles and a little heritage centre and shop. The Jacobite steam train is a big attraction in the area and passes through the village.
There is lots to do and see in the area, so don't rush through!!
I also have another double room with king-size bed and ensuite shower room downstairs - see my other listing.

Guest access
Breakfast is taken in your room. Guests are welcome to sit on the patio or the seating area by the front door.

During your stay
I live in the house and like to welcome guests personally whenever possible. Breakfast is ordered online the day before and will be delivered to your room at your chosen time - between 7.30 and 9.00.
I'm happy to help with advice about things to do and see in the area, etc.

Other things to note
Please note, I do not have locks on the rooms, in case this is a concern to you. It is a very safe area and I will be around most of the time during the stay.

All communal spaces (there aren’t many) will be regularly cleaned and sanitised each day. Your room will have been thoroughly aired, cleaned and sanitised before your arrival. Hand sanitiser will be provided at the front door. Please bring your own for use whilst visiting.

Neighborhood highlights

The house is down a short track leading off the coast road, a little less than a mile from the village and a pleasant 20 minute walk or less than 5 minute drive. There are panoramic views in all directions.
There is easy access by car or on foot to local beaches, the golf course and the village itself, which has a hotel, a restaurant, two cafes, a general store with Post Office and cashpoint machine and marina from which you can take day trips to any of the Small Isles of Eigg, Rum, Canna and Muck as well as shorter day and evening wildlife cruises.
The Arisaig Hotel serves delicious meals and often has live music. New for 2021 is Arisaig Shellfish Shack, based at Arisaig Hotel.
Meals are also served at The Old Library Lodge, as well as teas and coffees at the Arisaig Marine cafe. From the Marina you can take a day trip to the Small Isles - Eigg, Rum, Canna and Muck - a great day out with time on the island of your choice, plus the chance of spotting seals, dolphin or even minke whale. The Land, Sea and Island centre is a mine of local history information and has a small gift shop.
The closest beach is a 15 minute or so walk and there are many other beaches within a short driving distance. You could be treated to one of our astonishingly beautiful sunsets over the sea towards the Small Isles and the southern tip of the Isle of Skye.
Traigh (pronounced Try) golf course is a mile further along the coast road.
Five miles away, at the end of the road, is the fishing port of Mallaig. Here there are a range of shops and the CalMac ferry terminal, with ferries going to the island and Skye. There is a range of shops and a Leisure Centre with swimming pool and Fitness Suite.
There are train stations at Arisaig and Mallaig and, in the season, the Jacobite steam train, running from Fort William to Mallaig and back, makes a nice day out.
There are local walks of all sorts, and, of course, the beaches!

Lives in Arisaig, United Kingdom
I have lived in Arisaig for 34 years. Sgiath House was built in 2010 and is an individual, beautifully crafted home sitting in an elevated position with stunning views in all directions. I love the outdoors and am a keen sea kayaker, hill walker and gardener. I have been involved with music most of my life and enjoy the local music scene. Come and visit! I look forward to meeting you and sharing my bit of Arisaig.
