On the edge of the lowland jungle just above the Pacific Coast, Casa Savasana is the perfect getaway for solo travelers and couples coming to Mazunte for the sun, surf, beaches and yoga! Relax overlooking our jungle garden where you can see many birds and perhaps an iguana or two.

La Sala Arriba Verde, one of four upper level rooms, features a double bed overlooking the jungle view. Upper level rooms use shared bathrooms and kitchen area.

We are located 2 to 4 km away from Oaxaca beaches.

The space
Casa Savasana guesthouse features rustic yet trendy private rooms in a peaceful setting, with private or shared baths with showers. The deck looks out on our beautiful jungle garden with tropical fruit. We are located just minutes (2 to 4 km) away from Oaxaca beaches.

Our Palapa Grande covers the upper level, providing breathtaking views above the trees towards the ocean. Our shared community kitchens are readily to fix a quick breakfast or dine in, with gas stove, refrigerator, water tower and coffee-maker. Dine out on the deck or in your room.

Rooms include double bed, towels, linens, ceiling fans, mosquitero netting, table and sitting area.

We make plenty of spaces for your yoga practice & meditation, either in your room, out on the deck, or up beneath El Palapa Grande.

Your hosts Leo, Rich & Jeffrey provide a relaxing atmosphere and encourage our guests to become part of our little community. We can provide a wealth of local information to make your stay muy agradable.

Shops and restaurants in nearby Mazunte are plentiful, and beautiful Mazunte beach is just a short walk through the town. Nearby Punte Cometa boasts some of the most extraordinary sunsets in the region.

Day trips abound, from Puerto Angel, Zipolite, San Agustinillo, Mazunte, La Ventanilla and Puerto Escondido on the coast to San Jose del Pacifico in the mountains. Public transportation is frequent and inexpensive.

Guest access
Limited free parking is available for cars and scooters. We suggest having a car or scooter for getting to town and nearby beaches, but with a short walk out to the main road you can pick up a ride on el collectivo, or taxi service is available. See photos and follow signs to help find us.

Other things to note
Having your own transportation is a big plus when staying here - scooters are available to rent in nearby Mazunte and San Agustinillo. If you have a small car, great, or the local taxis can be called.

The dirt road into Casa Savasana is sometimes a little challenging, but it's usually not too difficult for most vehicles.

Neighborhood highlights

We are actually located in the small community El Zapotal, near La Ventanilla and Mazunte. Zapotal means 'water', and we are surrounded by small ranches and farms producing bananas, coconuts and many tropical crops. Our neighbors traditional Mexican families as well as newer residents in secluded houses.

We are close to the coast and hear the surf breaking on shore. The closest beach is Playa La Ventanilla, and Laguna Ventanilla features an Ecological Tour with mangroves, crocodiles, iguanas and turtles.
