Room in a bed and breakfast

Your own room in a home, plus access to shared spaces.
A light and airy double bedroom in an Edwardian house overlooking the tree-lined village green in Town Yetholm. There's a comfortable king-size bed and en-suite shower room, and we provide hot and cold breakfast choices, including a full-cooked Scottish breakfast. The lovely village of Town Yetholm is at the edge of the Cheviot Hills and is a great location for walking, cycling, or exploring Northumberland and the Scottish Borders. We’re on the St Cuthbert’s Way and 1km from the Pennine Way.

The space
The house is a grade-B listed Edwardian town house with many original period features. You’ll stay in a light and airy double-room at the front of the house with a view of the village green. There’s a comfortable king-size bed with crisp, white cotton bed linen and a small en-suite bathroom with shower, loo and sink.

Tea and coffee facilities and home baking are provided in your room. In the mornings we serve a full-cooked Scottish breakfast, with locally-sourced ingredients and home-made preserves, in our guest breakfast room. Vegetarian options are always available. We're very happy to cater for vegan or other diets - please let us know when you book so that we can do any shopping and cooking needed. We don’t provide any cooking facilities but there are two pubs within easy walking distance for evening meals and we can prepare packed lunches by arrangement.

Private parking is available outside the house and we have secure storage for bicycles. We love hillwalking and have plenty of space for drying wet clothes and footwear, and walking maps for guests to borrow. Rutherford House has a step at the front door, and the guest bedroom is upstairs on the first floor.

Unfortunately we’re not able to accommodate dogs at present.

Guest access
Access to the guest bedroom and breakfast room is through the main front door of the house, via the hallway and staircase. There’s no access to the kitchen.

During your stay
We're very happy to chat and help answer questions and provide local information, but will respect your privacy. You'll have keys for the house for you to come and go as you please.

Other things to note
There's no TV in the bedroom but there is fast, reliable and unlimited broadband available.

Neighborhood highlights

The beautiful village of Town Yetholm is a great location for walking, cycling and exploring Northumberland and the Scottish Borders. There are great local walks in the surrounding Cheviot Hills and the village is half-way along the St Cuthbert’s Way and about 1km from the end of the Pennine Way. There are miles of quiet country roads for cycling and the Borderloop cycle route passes through Town Yetholm. We have two pubs and a community-owned shop in the village.
