Tucked inside a peaceful orchard, two spacious safari-style tents with plush king beds, soft linens, and inviting lounge spaces. Step outside to sweeping views of the breathtaking Canyon of the Ancients—a backdrop that turns moments into a postcard.

Days here are spent hiking scenic trails with panoramic views of Mesa Verde. Evenings are sunsets, starlight, and complete tranquility.

Exclusively yours: We host one group at a time, giving you the entire camp to unwind, explore, and reconnect.

The space
One space, endless content opportunities for photographers, writers, travelers, painters or anyone who just wants to get away.

Orchard Camp is part of a 38-acre private property that includes a working hay farm, McElmo Creek, and clifftop hiking trails. The entire camp area, including both tents and the luxury bathhouse, is yours alone, offering complete privacy in a breathtaking natural setting.

The Camp – Where Luxury Meets Nature

Nestled in a small orchard with sweeping views of Canyon of the Ancients, Orchard Camp blends the beauty of the wild with thoughtful, luxurious touches:

Two spacious safari-style tents featuring king-sized beds with Tuft & Needle mattresses, premium pillows, high-quality linens, a mini-fridge, water cooler, writing desk, books, and curated furnishings.

Private luxury bathhouse, exclusively yours, with two indoor showers, two sinks, two toilets, and an invigorating outdoor shower.
Outdoor soaking tub positioned perfectly to take in the canyon views.

Expansive outdoor lounge and dining areas, ideal for relaxed mornings and evenings under the stars.
Fully equipped outdoor kitchen with a two-burner stove, mini-fridge, pantry basics, and dishwashing station.

Cozy propane fire pit, perfect for evenings spent gathered around the warmth of the flames.
Private hiking trails leading to stunning clifftop vistas with breathtaking views of Sleeping Ute Mountain.

Refresh & Renew

Begin the day with a morning hike on Lucy’s Loop, an excursion through Sand Canyon, or a mountain bike ride at Phil’s World. Or simply take in the stillness of the landscape—soaking in the outdoor tub, savoring a slow morning, and watching the shifting light over the canyon.

As night falls, the canyon offers its own rewards: complete privacy, a brilliant view of the Milky Way, and the kind of quiet that settles the mind. Evenings at Orchard Camp are best spent by the fire, playing cards, sharing stories, and embracing the moment.

Seasons & What to Expect

Spring (March – May) – Wildflowers in bloom, mild days and crisp nights, and ideal hiking weather.
Summer (June – August) – Warm, golden afternoons, clear desert nights, and some of the best stargazing in the Southwest.
Fall (September – November) – Vibrant canyon landscapes, perfect temperatures, and crisp, refreshing air.
Winter (December – February) – A quiet, snow-dusted retreat with peaceful solitude and striking scenery.

What to Know Before You Book

Orchard Camp is exclusively yours. The tents, bathhouse, kitchen, and outdoor spaces are private and reserved for your use during your stay.
The property spans 38 acres, including a separately located private residence where the owners or their guests may be present at times. Guests are not permitted to enter this area, which is clearly marked.

The canyon climate varies. Electric blankets and space heaters are provided for cooler nights, while fans and fresh canyon breezes keep the space comfortable in warmer months.
For safety reasons, children under the age of 8 are not permitted. The surrounding area is home to deer, foxes, coyotes, bobcats, snakes, and a variety of birds, including eagles and hawks. Guests should remain aware of their surroundings while exploring the property.

Arriving before sunset is strongly recommended to fully experience the scenic drive and ensure a smooth arrival. The road leading to the canyon can be challenging to navigate, and arriving in daylight makes it easier to settle in and familiarize yourself with the camp.

A Place to Slow Down

Orchard Camp was created as a space for reflection, restoration, and connection—to nature, to the land, and to the experience of simply being.

For those looking for a special occasion or private event, luxury party and event enhancements are available upon request.

Reserve your private retreat today and experience the magic of McElmo Canyon.

Guest access
You'll have access to roam much of this 38 acre property which includes a hay farm, cliffside and clifftop trail and a section of McElmo Creek. We just ask that folks stay away from the private residence on site, which is well-marked.

Other things to note
Sheets, towels, pantry basics and actually-good-pillows are included.

We love pets and kids but due to the Wildlife with a capital W with whom we share this land we must limit our guests to ages 8 and up. Southwest Colorado is a land of extremes. We get hot, cold and everything in between. The tents are canvas so we offer electric blankets and small space heaters for colder days, and fans for the warmer days. And in advance, we apologize for the high cleaning fee. When you're here you'll understand why with the large showerhouse and all its windows, the large canvas tents and big decks, etc.

I live by the philosophy that life is a story so you might as well make it a good one. That's one reason we ended up in a remote Colorado canyon rehabbing a hay farm into (hopefully) something more regenerative. We are learning a whole new way of life. I have big love for film, dogs, BHAGs, stoicism, and travel with our friends. It's a real blessing to get to share this unique pocket of Colorado with so many good people.
