The space
***Forbes 2025 Best Places To Stay At Glacier National Park***

“Mid-century chic pervades throughout this home, which is said to be the closest to the park’s entrance. Colorfully decorated rooms are flooded with modern amenities and natural light; outdoors, a firepit, barbecue grill and hammock beckon the whole family.” - Forbes

***Condé Nast Traveler Best Airbnb To Stay At Glacier***

"River Haus is as close as you can get to the gates of Glacier without sleeping inside the park proper. As such, it’s great for adventurous travelers who like to get up and explore—without the requisite long car ride." - Condé Nast Traveler

Perched above the Middle Fork and just steps to Glacier National Park, you’ll see why the founding family of West Glacier chose this location to build their dream home. Built in 1951 with attention to detail and traditional American craftsmanship — the historic River Haus is brimming with charm.

The cherry-red front door welcomes you into a relaxing, sunlight-bathed space that evokes the nostalgic feeling of a happy childhood memory. In fact, years ago the neighborhood kids were often found playing in the backyard as Mrs. Thompson gardened or baked her famous lemon poppyseed cake. The mercantile across the street bustled with locals, hikers and guides while seasonal park employees rode cruiser bikes past River Haus to the Old Belton Bridge to swim.

Things are a little bit different today, but thankfully much is still the same.

We’ve updated and outfitted River Haus with modern amenities that ensure a comfortable stay while also preserving the authenticity and charm that truly makes River Haus special. You’ll enjoy new premium furnishings, large comfortable beds topped with new mattresses and crisp new sheets, plus all the other amenities you'd expect.

Come and experience Glacier National Park in an authentic, intimate and exclusive way. Join us this spring, summer and fall of 2025 - the memories are worth it!

This little community thrives during the summer season - buzzing with energy and excitement as it's the launching point into the main entrance of Glacier. River Haus sits on Going-To-The-Sun road which takes you into Apgar and Lake McDonald or all the way to Logan Pass. You'll get to cut the line of vehicles that sometimes stretch for miles - by turning right into the park from River Haus!

Some of our favorite neighborhood adventures are:

◈ Riding our cruiser bikes down to the Old Belton Bridge for a jump and a swim in the glacial waters of the Middle Fork river

◈ Walking to the Belton Chalet for an incredible chef-prepared dinner and drinks

◈ An evening trail run on a section of the 18+ mile South Boundary Trail

◈ Walking the "Bridge to Bridge" loop starting at River Haus which is ~2 miles and follows along the river and into Glacier

◈ A friendly game of mini-golf with drinks for the winners at Freda's across the street

◈ Following the bike path to Lake McDonald to watch the sunset on Mt. Cannon, Mt. Brown and Mt. Vaught.

◈ Catching cutthroat trout in the "secret" fishing hole below River Haus
