Come take a break from the rush in this cozy authentic farmhouse built in the early 1900s, this home is the main hub of a Heritage (150 years) family-owned farmstead. Out of town, but close to everything and on paved roads (no gravel).

The space
This is an authentic all-American farmhouse where farmers who raised premium bred cattle and hogs lived for many years! This IS NOT a Chip & Joanna Gaines, HGTV or Country Living version of a farmhouse.
This is the real deal!

We love this old farmhouse and we hope you do too!
We've worked very hard to make this a lovely place to stay, here is what you can expect....

This house has been cosmetically updated, not "renovated, gutted or re-done" which means it might seem a bit old, a bit well worn, a bit quirky but full of charm, some original artwork and history!

High speed fiber optic broadband Wi-Fi (so grateful, it was still dial up less than 10 years ago)!!

The house is cooled in the summer with window AC units.
Each bedroom has its own AC unit and there's a centrally located window AC unit in the dining room. The house is heated by a (brand new!) counterflow convection heater in the dining room with additional electric units in each bedroom for added comfort. The Sunroom bedroom is a three-season room and not heated during cold winter months (Jan-Feb) when it's consistently below 20 degrees F.
There are space heaters and fans available for use as needed. You may be concerned about not having an HVAC, but I can assure you the house is comfortable year-round with what is in place!

The shower tub is an insert that sits over the existing cast iron tub. These inserts have flexible tub floors to accommodate different tub shapes, so you'll notice a little squish, this is normal and nothing to be concerned about. We've added a new shower head, handrails and anti-slip strips.

We have a new firepit with a gravel surround and built in seating. We currently have a nice supply of wood to burn from our apple tree!

Common North Iowa Farm pest- orange lady bugs, boxelder bugs and flies, the house has been sprayed and treated but you may still encounter them in the house, especially during harvest season.

We can sleep ten people max in beds and that Includes using the twin hide away bed. In the winter, we don't recommend groups with more than 6 because the sunroom is a three-season room and not made to heat in the cold winter months. We only have one bathroom. There is an additional sink and vanity with an outlet in the laundry room. We've added handrails, anti-slip strips, but we don't consider ourselves handicap friendly. Please express any questions or concerns prior to booking, we're happy to help!

Guest access
Guests have access to the house, no out buildings or livestock pens without permission and supervision (for your safety, under no circumstance should you ever enter a livestock pen without permission).

Guests have access to the entire main floor and one bedroom on the second level.

Basement is unfinished and off limits to guests. If you trip a breaker, please contact us!

We have cross country skis available for rent during the snow season! $10 a pair for the day. Please let me know in advance, so I can have sizes ready and the skis freshly waxed.

Other things to note
Please have the correct number of guests and pets selected in your booking request. Prices may vary based on your selections. We don't have to approve your request or provide a check-in key if we don't feel the guest is being honest.

Nordic skis available for rent! $10 a pair per day.

RBR Massage & Bodywork Studio is located on the west side of the garage just out of site from the house. Parking for clients is separate from house guest parking.
Inquire for more information.

This is an active farm and your safety is our highest priority! Please be mindful of traffic and we recommend you wear shoes outside at all times.

At your request, we are available for tours, demonstrations, time with the animals and education! Free of charge, tips are appreciated!

Please do not park in front of the garage or block access to other buildings.
