Peace and quiet

Guests say this home is in a quiet area.
Special treatment for our cabin guests! Ask about our new Healing Homestead Spa Package at The Relaxation Station here. Plus, unwind with the natural energy of forest, wild flowers and herbs, frog and bird song. Walk or jog the country road alongside the neighbor's cow and miniature horse pasture.

Nearby are parks with lakes, rivers, waterfalls, hiking, biking, and The Farm community. Shop in Amish country and visit local historic towns with all the amenities. Wifi here; no TV.

The space
To honor the sacred energy, which we found here and cultivated, we ask that you do not consume alcohol or use recreational drugs on the 11 acre property.

This new cabin has a a wheel chair accessible ramp and interior space, queen bed (storage underneath), cabinets, equipped kitchen, and full accessible bathroom, all designed for comfort and a rustic feel. Cedar trim and metal ceiling add to the handmade feeling, with plenty of windows and fixtures for good lighting. There is a desk, a dining table, closet, and a fold out chair and bedding if you have an extra person or just need separate beds.

Outside on the valley view side of the cabin is your own covered porch overlooking gardens. If you walk about on the land or down the road going north, you can visit with our neighbors' horses and view their large pond. Bunnies, deer, raccoons and a fox are out and about. Song birds and a flock of geese can often be seen and heard here.

Tent space and RV hook-up may be available on site as well.

Guest access
On our property we have open fields and forest. In the fields we have several gardens and a lotus flower pond. Guests are welcome to wander on the property.

Other things to note
Walking mindfully:
Bring walking shoes or boots if you plan to be out in the meadows or forest, and your own bug repellant. The ground is uneven. The roads are in good shape usually and don't have much traffic. Binoculars and a camera would be good for sights and critters you want to study. Watch for fire ant mounds and poison ivy.
This is in a farming community, so expect some farm-like sounds.

This is an alcohol-free zone as the property is dedicated to renewal and recovery. No smoking inside the cabin, please. And no pets.

Neighborhood highlights

Maple Lane is a no outlet road, both paved and dirt about 2 miles long that we share with our neighbors. Besides some homes, there are only both open fields and forested areas along the road. It is suitable for walking.
Our property is about a quarter mile off Highway 20, a two lane country road. We are about 3-4 miles west of Summertown and 20 miles east of our county seat, Hohenwald, and about 10 miles east of access to the Natchez Trace, a 440 mile long historical road, off Highway 20. Also the small cities of Columbia, Lawrenceburg, Mt. Pleasant, and Ethridge are all within 30 miles of our land.

Your porch overlooks gardens and the valley, along a road with 3 houses beyond the cabin. There are 11 acres of land to walk plus road frontage. You can walk or jog the road, and visit the neighboring cows and horses. Across the road, there is a 120 acre parcel of forest which is undeveloped. It's not available for hiking, but it is valuable for the nature habitat and quiet buffer. Two other guest cabins are within 50 feet. All guests are asked to respect each others’ privacy. We live in the chalet about 200 feet away. Most of the gardens and a pond are available for you. In our small unincorporated town, Summertown, we have places to eat, shop, mail letters, bank, maintain your car, a hair salon and barber, a Little League ball field, and a bit further, on Highway 43, are a medical clinic, automotive repair, grocery, a Subway and Sonic, and junk store. and west of us (8-12 miles) is Amish country, both New Order and Old Order, with lots of shopping opportunities. Go slow when passing their buggies on the local roads!. We are near the wooded Meriwether Lewis State Park and the Natchez Trace Parkway for touring and biking with many historic sites along the way, stunning State Natural Area Stillhouse Hollow Falls hiking trails, and the Buffalo River for getting wet, canoeing and kayaking. Laurel Hill Lake is a state operated fishing lake. Going south on Hwy 43 or on Buffalo Road, you'll pass through Ethridge and "Amish Country." Going further south, in Lawrenceburg we have the David Crockett State Park, with a restaurant and lake. Within 20-35 minutes you can be in any one of the lovely old towns of Hohenwald, Mt. Pleasant, and Columbia.
