The space
**PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION BEFORE BOOKING**
40 minutes north of Big Bend National Park Persimmon Gap entrance, this 8’x20’ pink container is the perfect hangout after a day of hiking.
There is NO electricity or water at the container. Think of it as camping with a memory foam mattress! There are solar powered lights outside that turn on at dusk and battery powered lights inside the container with additional batteries if needed. Bring a flashlight or camping light just in case or to get around the container at night. You’ll need to bring plenty of water! We usually bring about 5 gallons for drinking and cleaning.
A high clearance vehicle is REQUIRED! Our Subaru Outback and Chevy Silverado have AWD and have no issue getting out there when it is dry. The roads to access the container are all dirt. When it rains they are not drive-able and can take a day or more to dry out.
As we strive to be an eco-friendly facility, you will need to bring your own queen size bed sheets and pillow cases in the interest of local water preservation. Accommodations include a queen sized casper mattress with two pillows and a futon that can be pulled out for additional sleeping.
The full length awning provides shade from the sun during the day, and solar powered lights at night for navigating outside of the container. The rooftop patio is perfect for stargazing and catching a glimpse of the milky way.
In lieu of a cleaning fee, we ask that you remove all trash and leave the container cleaner than you found it. We provide Lysol & Clorox wipes along with trash bags, a broom & dustpan. PLEASE do not book if you are not willing or able to remove all trash and leave the container as you found it for the next guest.
We provide a propane camping stove, two skillets, one pot with a lid, disposable plates, utensils and other food prep items. There is also a wash basin and dish soap to clean up if you use anything non-disposable. You will need to bring 16 oz propane bottles for the camping stove. One bottle is more than enough to cook breakfast lunch and dinner for two days.
Is there AC? You will see an AC in our listing photos. We DO NOT have electricity! The container has a hookup for a large generator that we do not provide. You will need to bring your own generator if you plan on using electronics.
Where do I go to the bathroom? We provide a luggable loo, composting bags and toilet paper.
Guest access
We STRONGLY recommend a daytime arrival! The dirt roads to the container have no street signs and warrant having a high clearance vehicle as there is one VERY steep hill. There is spotty service in the Big Bend area and we don't get service in our area. It's a great place to disconnect but not a great place to get stuck in the mud. Rain can cause delays in getting to/from the container as our roads are dirt and a little bit of rain can cause you to get stuck. This is more of a concern during the monsoon season (Summer) but please pay attention to the weather!
