The space
This is a traditional alpine hut, with the roof structure dating back to 1850.
For decades, it served as summer accommodation for the senior generation of the Gasteighof while tending cows.
Ground floor: stable and water trough
First floor: living area
Attic: additional sleeping places
Running drinking water in kitchen and bathroom
Only the kitchen is heated (wood-fired stove, firewood provided)
The kitchen serves as both dining and living room – historically, most time was spent outdoors
Fully equipped kitchen for cooking
In July, we are often nearby during the day for haymaking, mainly around the outdoor bench area (so you are not completely alone).
Guest access
You will have exclusive use of the entire hut.
During alpine haymaking (approx. 2nd–4th week of July), we work nearby and may occasionally sit on the outdoor bench.
Other things to note
The Obergasteigalm is located at 1,900 m above sea level.
There are no food supplies at the hut – this is a self-catering accommodation.
There is no refrigerator; food can temporarily be stored in the nearby spring (approx. 8°C).
At this alpine altitude, venomous snakes (e.g. adders) may occur.
Sturdy footwear is recommended; rubber boots for children are advised for safe outdoor play.
There is no central heating. Early and late summer can be quite cold.
Local tourist tax included.
There is no exact street address.
