The Ponderosa Room is a rustic, charming studio apartment in the upstairs of our Lodge. The windows look out on the grounds of the Arizona Nordic Village and the surrounding forest at 8,000 feet of elevation. There is a queen bed and a full-size futon bed with linens provided for both. Up to 4 guests can be accommodated. A full sized kitchen is available for your convenience. Bathrooms are shared and located downstairs in our main Lodge. Two shower tokens and a set of towels are provided.
The space
The Ponderosa Room is located upstairs in our cozy lodge. Guests have access to 35 miles of trails that wind through aspen and pine forests. Complimentary coffee, tea and hot chocolate are provided downstairs. Staff arrive at 8am and leave at 4pm. You must download the Airbnb app for self check in after 4pm. We are happy to help you with any questions you may have during these hours. Two grills are also available for use, first come, first serve. Snacks and a small selection of retail is also available downstairs. A house manual is provided in your unit with helpful information on ANV rules and helpful information.
Up to 2 dogs are allowed to stay in the space for an additional fee of $10 per dog, per night. The fee can be added to your reservation through Airbnb. If you are bringing your dog(s) please let us know when you book. Absolutely no dogs unattended or on our furniture. If we find dogs have been on furniture, an extra $50 cleaning fee will be charged. Thank you for your cooperation.
We are an off-grid facility, which means we generate all our electricity on site through solar power and a back-up propane generator, and we also have to haul water to our facility. Please be mindful of electricity and water usage and turn off lights when not in use! If you need to plug in anything larger than a cell phone, laptop or standard household appliance please call us. Since our off-grid system has been overloaded in the past, we will let you know which appliances we can reasonably accommodate.
There is no ceiling/insulation between the main lodge area and the Ponderosa Room floor, so if you're a very light sleeper or like to sleep in late, ear plugs could be your friend.
Guest access

Please access the Ponderosa room by coming through the door with the welcome sign on it and not by the outside stairs. The Ponderosa Room will be up the stairs by the restrooms. We have an extensive trail system that is open to hiking and biking in the summer free of charge, and cross country skiing and snowshoeing during the winter (snow permitting). We put a lot of effort and money into grooming our trails. Please do not walk on trails once we begin grooming. The only trail that can be accessed with out skis or snowshoes is Jess's Jaunt. Trail passes and rentals are offered to our overnight guests at a 20% discount.
Motorized is strictly prohibited at all times. E-bikes are not allowed at this time.

Other things to note
In consideration for being permitted to use the yurts at Arizona Nordic Village (“ANV”), I acknowledge and agree to the following:
I understand that the use of our accommodations and trails involves inherent risks, including, but not limited to:
Wilderness Travel: Unpredictable road and trail conditions, and travel in mountainous terrain with obstacles that may not be visible.
Altitude Considerations: The cabins/yurts are located at an elevation of about 8,000 feet. This elevation can lead to altitude sickness and other health complications, such as high-altitude pulmonary or cerebral edema. Guests with existing health conditions, particularly heart or respiratory issues, should consult a healthcare provider before visiting.
Outdoor Activities: Risks associated with hiking, biking, skiing, snowshoeing, and other activities in a wilderness environment.
Physical Strain: The physical demand of hiking or traveling at high elevation can cause exhaustion, dehydration, muscle strains, or cardiovascular stress, particularly for those not accustomed to strenuous activities.
Dehydration or Heat Exhaustion: The need to drink enough water at higher altitudes to prevent dehydration and/or heat exhaustion, particularly if engaging in physical activity like hiking or biking.
Limited Services: Use of remote cabins/yurts with no communication systems or running water. Our off-grid facility depends on solar power and other limited resources, which may not reliably support medical devices (such as C-PAP machines). Guests with medical equipment should bring their own reliable power sources or consider staying at another facility.
Limited Medical Facilities: Risk of delayed access to emergency medical care or a lack of facilities for immediate treatment if an injury occurs.
Inexperience or Lack of Preparedness: The risks associated with visitors who may not have sufficient knowledge, skills, or equipment for wilderness travel or staying in off-grid accommodations.
Lack of Facilities for Special Needs: The risk of inadequate facilities or accommodations for people with mobility issues or other special needs due to the remote and rustic nature of the venue.
Changing Weather: Rapidly changing weather conditions, potentially extreme temperature changes, and storms in mountainous terrain.
I understand that the cabins/yurts are located in a high elevation wilderness environment, requiring good physical conditioning and skills. By booking this unit, I voluntarily assume all risks associated with staying at ANV, including potential injury, paralysis, or death.
