The space
We are an eco-conscious permaculture project on an unknown and empty beach between Puerto Escondido and Lagunas De Chacahua, just 100 meters from the beach and right around the corner from the surf break and rustic beach restaurants. In the morning you'll only hear the birds and at night only hear the crashing waves. We are far away from the city's touristic zone, and are instead a place where you can inspire, relax and think immersed in nature. Perfect for getting some work done, focusing on a project or just yourself. New Ruins is a transformational experience of a perfectly balanced world, where you consume only what you need and find comfort in simplicity.

New Ruins is situated on 10,000 sq. m (2.5 acres) in the hills above the ocean. We have beautiful views and incredible landscapes: huge trees, cacti and rocks. You'll have a nice beach practically all to yourself. Great climbing rocks at the point and a surf break 15 mins walking. We have more than 50 fruit trees, a few of varieties you've most likely never heard of. We have vegetable and decorative gardens, beautiful outdoor shower tucked away in a rock nook, two beautiful composting toilets (one with the most incredible view of the sunrise above the cocos, beach shacks and the rocky point)

The property has multiple buildings and trails leading around to different spots. But you'll be staying in Dome Complex: 3 round SuperAdobe earthen round houses. The half a meter thick earth walls keep it very cool during the day and night. The Cone has a queen bed, simple furniture, including a computer chair and a ceiling fan on the first floor, while the second floor is an open air balcony all made of wood, has an ocean view and the breeze is always blowing. The lighting is very soft in the evening, which gives a very nice vibe that every guest can feel. The Dome has 1 queen bed on the first floor and another queen bed in the loft, its considered a 1 bedroom because technically in the same large room, but the loft makes each space feel more private, theres also a computer chair. The Cone and Dome share a bathroom with shower and Pee Only Toilet and needs to use our composting toilets for number 2. The Temple is our newest Earth Dome, it has two private terraces, a king bed that can be seperated to make 2 singles and has private bathroom with flush toilet (a first at New Ruins and makes use of a biodigestor)

Guest access
The Kitchen is a separate building that is the heart of the property. It has a very large indoor garden and is open air but mosquito screened. This is shared between everybody. It's fully equipped and generally speaking, all the food is available to you. We do expect you to bring your own specific food items, but the basics spices, oil we make available.

Booze:
We have wine, beer and mezcal for sale. But you are also welcome to bring your own.

Beach Campfire:
Firewood is always on hand for a beach fire, and feel free to enjoy our marshmallows or hotdogs while star gazing.

Other things to note
Heres some things you might not like:
It's rustic, as in not a 5 star resort. It is charming and comfortable, the rooms are bug free with mosquito screen on all doors and windows, but this is the jungle (there is life).
Showers are not heated, but it's hot so the cold shower is good.
We are far from stores. Bring any medicines, personal items.
The room has indoor bathroom with toilet. The other 2 domes share a bathroom w/ shower and a pee only toilet. But for a number 2, you have to walk half a minute to 1 of the 2 dry composting toilets that use sawdust.

The ocean is sometimes unsafe for actual swimming, but you can always play in the waves. But sometimes it is too rough to go out past the break. Roca Blanca that's down the coconut lined dirt road about 20 mins walking/5 mins in car, is a protected bay and is always safe to swim, and it has local restaurants on the beach where you can get fresh seafood and drinks.
