👭 About My Sister's House

Welcome to My Sister's House, a cozy and revitalized Idlewood / Midtown cottage that celebrates the sisters we are born with and the many we gather along the way.

This home honors Sonya (Eric's sister), Wendy (Joy's sister), and the original pair of sisters (Angie and Amy) who grew up within these walls. It carries that same easy warmth you feel when visiting your own sister: familiar, forgiving, and full of heart.

Located within walking distance of Downtown Greensboro, Cone Hospital, Latham Park, and the Greenway Urban Trail, this cottage blends mid-century character with a sustainable, modern refresh. Expect a little city hum in the background, the sound of life unfolding around you: Ambulance, fire truck, Grimsley Marching Band, Baseball stadium fireworks, and Wendover traffic.

🏡 The Space

Bedrooms:
Each of the two bedrooms features a queen-size memory foam mattress, high-thread-count 100 percent cotton sheets, ceiling fan, Smart TV, and a small closet space for easy settling in.

Bathroom:
A spa-style bath offers a rain-head shower and handheld sprayer. Penny tile floor with herringbone tile shower surround. A vintage tub we salvaged and reglazed from Architectural Salvage of Greensboro finishes out this tiny bathroom space.

Kitchen:
The modern stainless steel kitchen with KitchenAid range and dishwasher with red Kitchen Aid stand mixer. Vintage Red Avon Glass dishes gifted from my dear friend Curtis, all fit for real enjoyment, not just pretend.

Living and Outdoor Areas:
Relax in the cozy living room, enjoy coffee or an evening glass of wine on the covered patio added in 2024, or take in the fenced backyard shaded by a mature and giant Pin Oak tree. The home is small but generous in spirit, designed for connection and calm.

Parking:
Off-street parking makes city exploring easy.

🐾 Pet Policy

We love animals, but this home is small and carefully maintained, so there is a firm two-pet maximum. More than two pets can overwhelm the space and leave lingering odors that are difficult to remove between guests. We love well-behaved pets they make travel feel more like home! We charge a $25 per pet, per night fee per stay.

Please read before booking:
• Up to two well-behaved pets are welcome.
• List all pets in your booking request so we can prepare the home.
• Pets are not allowed on furniture or bedding. If your pet likes the couch, please bring your own cover or sheet or let us know and we will leave some older sheets for you to cover our furnishings.
• Guests traveling with cats must share their litter setup and containment plan before booking to confirm measures that prevent litter scattering, clawing or spraying.
• Pick up outdoor waste and report any accidents or damage right away.
• Unregistered pets, excessive shedding, or damage beyond normal cleaning may result in additional charges through Airbnb's Resolution Center.

We clean with the professionals from Simply Organized and Clean who use low fragrance, eco-friendly, non-toxic products to protect pets, people, and the planet.

🛏 Linen Care and Damage Fees

Our linens are high-thread-count 100 percent cotton, washed with gentle unscented detergent to keep them soft and allergen free.

If linens or towels are permanently stained, or damaged, the following fees apply:
• 25 dollars per bath towel

• Quilt or duvet cover TBD

Guests are notified of any charges before they are submitted through Airbnb's Resolution Center.

Neighborhood highlights

Idlewood aka Midtown Greensboro

Idlewood, often referred to as Midtown, is one of Greensboro most connected and quietly beloved neighborhoods. It sits just outside the downtown core and blends the ease of an established residential area with the energy of city living. Tree lined streets, early to mid twentieth century homes, and long standing neighbors give this area a grounded, lived in feel that many guests appreciate immediately.

Idlewood is surrounded by some of Greensboro most recognizable neighborhoods, including Fisher Park, Latham Park, Old Irving Park, Westerwood, and College Hill. Each adds its own character, history, and rhythm, creating a larger walkable network of homes, parks, and local streets that feel cohesive rather than isolated.

Walkability and Access

This area is especially well suited for guests who value walkability and flexibility. From Idlewood, it is easy to walk or bike to Downtown Greensboro, Cone Hospital, and many daily needs without relying on a car. Public transit stops are nearby, and rideshare services are widely available, but many guests find they rarely need them.

One of the defining features of the neighborhood is direct access to Greensboro extensive urban trail system. The Downtown Greenway, Downtown Greenway Loop, and Bicentennial Greenway connect this area to Cone Hospital, Wesley Long Hospital, Downtown Greensboro, Battleground Avenue, and even Bur Mill Park. Walking, biking, and ebikes are all common here, and many guests choose this location specifically because it allows them to live comfortably without a car.

Everyday Places and Local Favorites

Living in Idlewood means being close to both essentials and local favorites. Downtown Greensboro is less than a mile away and offers independent restaurants, breweries, live music venues, parks, and cultural spaces. Cone Hospital is nearby, which makes this area especially popular with medical professionals and travel nurses.

Local spots like Deep Roots Market, House of Health, neighborhood coffee shops, and small businesses are woven into daily life here. This is not a big box corridor or a tourist zone. It is a real neighborhood supported by locally owned businesses and people who know each other.

Recreation and Outdoor Space

For guests who enjoy being outside, this area offers a mix of movement and calm. The greenway trails are ideal for walking, biking, and clearing your head after a long day. Parks and green spaces nearby provide room to slow down, read, or simply sit under mature trees. The neighborhood feels active without feeling overwhelming.

Community and Local Spirit

Idlewood and Midtown are known for their strong sense of community. Neighbors tend to look out for one another, and many people who live here choose to stay long term. You will notice a mix of longtime residents, creatives, professionals, and families, all contributing to the character of the area.

Our homes are part of a small local business rooted in this neighborhood. We proudly support experiential learning by providing work opportunities for Guilford County high school students enrolled in the Occupational Course of Study. This connection to the community matters to us and shapes how we host.

A Good Fit for Many Reasons

Whether you are in Greensboro for work, healthcare, relocation, or an extended stay, Idlewood aka Midtown offers a rare balance. It is close to everything without feeling chaotic, connected without feeling crowded, and grounded in a way that makes it easy to settle in.

Guests who choose this neighborhood often value walkability, real neighborhoods, and a sense of place. It is a part of Greensboro that reveals itself more the longer you stay, and many visitors find it becomes a favorite reason to return.
