Our 300 acre working ranch is an ideal place for Lassen National Park road-tripping families to spend a few days in a comfortable "home away from home," or, visitors looking to experience life away from the city. Our upscale log cabin has everything you need furnished for an easy, adventure-filled stay. We have 4 miles of beautiful private trails on property near Battle Creek, and guests can fish our 2-acre pond. We also have Spanish Iberico pigs! Shasta County Permit STR22-0016.

The space
Join us as we work to regenerate our land into productive, healthy agriculture and farmland! Our land is beautiful, wild, remote and actively being farmed and brought to life, so please note that you will see and hear the sounds of a working farm including equipment, animals, and livestock guardian dogs protecting the herd.

Our home has the following spaces:

--1 bedroom (downstairs, queen bed)

--Upstairs open loft/playroom/workspace (futon couch that folds into a queen bed, a king bed, and two reading nooks that could be used for toddler or child beds; called the "living room 2" in the listing)

Per Shasta County rules, we can host a max of 3 adults and 3 children; feel free to ask us about your particular needs.

We provide all linens, towels, and kitchen basics. Guests need to provide their own food and beverages, but we provide spices, cooking oils, a coffee maker, and a complete kitchen with cookware. The property is very remote, 20 minutes from the nearest town and gas. There is a small restaurant with good hot food, live music on weekends, coffee, beer, local wine, frozen items like pizza, and baked goods. We can suggest local bakers and veggie/egg farms who will deliver custom orders to you when in season!

Guest dogs *may* be accommodated after we discuss your pet and our property; this is a working farm and we need your pets to be well-managed, leashed and crated for everyone’s safety. We have 5 livestock guard dogs on property - including intact males and spayed females that may unintentionally come to the cabin. Please ask us about your dog before booking and we will discuss a good plan for keeping all animals safe.

We have Starlink internet at the cabin. We have an Amazon firestick that you are welcome to use to log into your video streaming accounts and about 150 DVDs.

We're happy to show you around the property or let you explore on your own. Please see information in our listing about safety regarding animals, children, and natural hazards including wild animals that are a part of California farm life. Guests assume all risks of natural hazards while on our property.

Note: Our California climate varies from cold, rainy winters to hot, dry summers. In summer, we do get temperatures at or above 100 degrees, and in winter, below freezing. We recommend that you check the weather the day before your arrival.

**We do not have a BBQ grill or fireplace for guests due to extreme fire danger**

**Commercial event/video/photo shoot inquiries: please reach out to us.**

Guest access
You will have full access to your entire private cabin, and you are welcome to also jog/walk/bike across the host's large property on marked trails, to our private pond and to Battle Creek. Guests should ALWAYS walk in pairs and small children should never be alone outside due to wild animals such as wolves, mountain lions, bears, coyotes and snakes.

**Please do not enter any livestock paddocks without your hosts or their permission for biosecurity and safety reasons**

Sorry, no guest ATVs or motorized bikes permitted on our trails.

Other things to note
We will consider a guest dog with prior discussion before booking. We have working livestock, 5 livestock guardian canines, and wild animals on the property that could harm or kill your pets if they enter livestock pens or harass our dogs.

Our dogs are trained to ward off unfamiliar animals that enter into their fenced area.

If we can accommodate your dog, he must stay leashed outdoors for its safety and must be securely locked in a crate (guest to provide) if you leave the animal alone in the home.

The Entire Property Is Very Large And In Places Very Wild. In Booking The Property You Agree To Assume All Risk Associated With The Property And Hereby Release Any And All Liability And Indemnify Your Host For Any And All Losses.

Neighborhood highlights

Manton is a rural community located 30 minutes from the North entrance to Mt. Lassen National Park (Manzanita Lake) and 50 minutes from the South entrance (Mineral, CA). The town is full of family farms, but no services (closest gas and food are in Shingletown - 15 minutes away - where you can pick up a pizza, ice cream, and most groceries you will need). Expect a true farm stay with the sights - and sounds - of farming and agricultural life. We recommend that you stock up groceries and get a full tank of gas in Red Bluff (if visiting from the South) or Redding, Palo Cedro, or Shingletown (if visiting from the North).
