Perfect for a weekend get-away from Denver or the Springs! Enjoy a winter wonderland this season- at 11,300ft, in winter we always have snow! Sled down the driveway, snowshoe at a neighborhood trail, ice skate or shop in town. Snuggle under a warm blanket near the pellet stove & enjoy the dawn sunrise through the top deck windows. In Breck (40min), you can snow mobile, dog sled, or sleigh ride. Soak in the hot springs-(45min). Moose, bear, fox and mtn lions all visit the lodge. Adventure awaits!
The space
Large windows are on both levels, so the view is of the tall pine trees, the starry sky and the mountain in the far distance. You can see the Milky Way from the hot tub on a clear night. The space is bright, open and airy. The cabin is very cozy and has all of the amenities for a comfortable stay. There are two fireplaces, one on each level- a pellet stove and a gas stove. There's even a fire feature in the downstairs entertainment area, which hosts three recliners and a smart TV. There is a queen bedroom on each level equipped with a dresser and a large closet. The bunk room has four beds, offering a fun room for the kids. There are two full bathrooms (one on each level), each with a tub. The fully-equipped kitchen is large and offers a big table that comfortably seats six. There's also a futon in the downstairs living area and a game table with backgammon and craps. We now offer Starlink high-speed internet (we are super excited about this)so you can easily do your video calls if working from "home". Also, the hot tub is new and can hold 4-6 adults. Laundry room with washer and dryer is also downstairs.
Guest access
There is plenty of parking. Garage usage not included, but there are plenty of spots and you can park alongside the cabin and enter on the lower level so you're not in the elements too much. The road up to the cabin is a dirt road, so in the winter AWD vehicles are required. You should be fine if you have an AWD with decent tires. In the summertime, it's best to have a higher clearance vehicle as the roads can be bumpy. But the drive up is gorgeous, we see moose often, and I can guarantee you the peacefulness is worth the ten minute drive from CR 9.
Other things to note
This is our family cabin, so it's not just a rental. We take pride in ownership of the cabin, so I try to maintain it very well. Outside, there is so much to do- I don't know where to start. In the immediate area, we are on a dirt road, so it's nice just to walk the area and check out all of the cabins. Just the drive up to the cabin is pretty and you can keep an eye out for moose, bear, mule deer, rabbits, porcupine, beaver, mountain lions, etc. There are two trailheads in the neighborhood with spectacular views. We are close to Pike National forest, and several "fourteeners", so if you're looking for more trailheads or snowshoeing opportunities, you won' t have to look far. Inside, we have books, puzzles, games and movies for the DVD downstairs. Upstairs, have dinner on the deck while taking in the views of the property and surrounding trees. In town, there are a few restaurants, a rec center, an incredible outdoor museum, a great ice cream shop, a remote work space, a grocery store and several cute shops. We are half way between Fairplay and Alma, so definitely check out both. Fairplay offers a little rec center complete with a nice small gym, a heated pool, steam room and classes. The continental divide and Breckenridge are just a short drive up the highway, so if you're looking for even more to do, that's close by. As you probably know, in addition to world-class skiing, Breck has a nordic center, ice rink, trails, a wooden troll and many, many things to do. Lastly, we have Starlink wi-fi and a smart TV for streaming. We hope you will enjoy this space as much as we do!
