Welcome to Mountain Sun, our lovingly restored cabin! Once neglected and forgotten, we’ve breathed new life into this space, preserving its rustic charm while adding modern comforts. We are committed to sustainability by reviving Mountain Sun rather than rebuilding. Come experience the magic of a place where history meets contemporary coziness, surrounded by the natural beauty we've worked hard to protect.
Mountain Sun is located in a neighborhood of several other cabins - a good mix of other travelers and locals alike. While there are other cabins nearby, our specific location does feel like a private woodsy oasis.
We are about 15 minutes from the shopping and entertainment of downtown Luray.
Upon pulling up to Mountain Sun, you will be greeted by a large deck with charcoal grill, Solo Stove with Adirondack chairs, and an oversized 4 person hot tub with mountain view.
Our newly renovated interior offers:
- Fully stocked white kitchen with floating shelves
- 4 person dining table with leather chairs
- Comfy seating area with leather couch, two armchairs, and 65" smart TV
- Thoughtfully decorated King bedroom with walnut dresser, 2 nightstands with lamps, closet with wood hangers
- Cozy bedroom with two twin beds, nightstand with lamp, and armoire
- Full size bathroom with fun tile, black fixtures and full size bathtub.

The entire cabin and grounds are yours to enjoy!
There is a locked housekeeping closet in the twin bedroom, and crawlspace under the deck that is unavailable.
Other things to note
• Neighborhood roads are gravel/dirt and can be narrow, bumpy, and occasionally rutted
• In normal, dry conditions, many guests arrive comfortably in standard vehicles, including FWD and RWD sedans
• AWD/4WD is recommended after heavy rain
• AWD/4WD with all-weather tires is required in snow (roads are not plowed)
• Low-clearance vehicles may have difficulty with potholes
• The cabin is about 15 minutes from downtown Luray
• The hot tub is professionally tested and serviced between every stay, including cleaning, sanitizing, and balancing the water chemistry. For longer stays, our technician may stop by briefly for routine service.
• We do not refund for road conditions, weather, or power outages. Travel insurance is strongly recommended. If anything ever seems off during your stay, message us—we respond quickly and are happy to help.
• Please note: there is no washer/dryer at the cabin.

We are located in a tranquil and secure private cabin community! If you're looking for nearby attractions, the must-see sights are the Shenandoah National Park, Skyline Drive, and the Luray Caverns. Our cabin is nestled in a peaceful "hollow" (pronounced holler), located 6 miles down a paved country road that follows the scenic Shenandoah River.
For outdoor enthusiasts, Shenandoah River Outfitters is within walking distance, and if you enjoy fishing, Bealer's Pond and the Shenandoah River are both within a 10-minute walk. If you're planning a trip to the Shenandoah National Park, it's only a 30-minute drive away, and the town of Luray and the famous Luray Caverns can be reached in about 20 minutes by car.
