Private Mountainside Getaway

Nestled among the cedars of the Mission Valley mountainside, this newly-renovated cabin is a refreshing destination, or a cozy home base for a Montana adventure. At the end of a private road, 1/4 mile from the main house.

Easy to get to, but completely off the grid, this clean cabin is comfortable with electric heat/air conditioning. Features include washer and dryer, and full-time wifi.

The space
Enjoy your morning coffee on the covered balcony -- in your pajamas, if you'd like! Relax by the creek as you watch the water tumble over the rocks, explore the shaded cedar groves and ferns along the mossy creekside, and let the stress of busy life melt away as you breathe the clean mountain air.

Make dinner together in the full-size kitchen, grill on the patio (propane grill provided), or visit a local restaurant.

2 bedroom, 1 bath, enclosed garage parking, full kitchen, laundry, and wifi.

Upstairs level features vaulted ceilings with timber beams over the living room, kitchen, and dining area (for 4), as well as the master bedroom which has a king sized bed, a vanity, sink and large closet plus the bathroom/shower. A balcony overlooks a small pond and fish hatchery which houses Westslope Cutthroat trout during the spawning season.

Bedroom on lower level has a queen size bed, full size couch and television. There is also a cozy reading nook on the lower level as well as a washer and dryer.

Accommodations are on 160 acres of private land with a creek and walking trails just outside the door. Surrounding area is tribal wilderness.

You will have the whole facility to yourselves including a large garage area.

Other things to note
We have been off the grid for over 30 years. The hydroelectric generator provides power for three houses so there are a few guidelines regarding use of the high power consumption utilities (oven and dryer).

During the winter months we do our best to maintain the road but recommend a 4-wheel drive vehicle.

Neighborhood highlights

Many outdoor activities can be found near this area. If you wish to ride horses, we recommend the Cheff Guest Ranch.

There are also many trail heads leading into the Mission Mountains such as Mollman Lake trailhead, Eagle Pass trailhead to name a few of the close ones.

Other local attractions include Ninepipes National Wildlife Refuge, the National Bison Range, Ninepipes Museum of Early Montana, Miracle of America Museum, and the St. Ignatius Mission.

Flathead Lake in Polson (30 mins) offers many water activities (boat tours, water sport rentals, whitewater rafting, jet skies or a motor boat) for you to enjoy. Drive to Glacier National Park (West entrance is about an 1.75 hour away) . You may want to take a 2 hour drive to Whitefish Mountain Resort where both summer and winter activities abound.

If you go south to Missoula (a 45 minute drive) you'll find shopping, dining, many local breweries, Snowbowl Ski Area and much more.
