Peace and quiet

Guests say this home is in a quiet area.
Morgensolen is the downstairs apartment of our house on the mountainside in Bønes, a quiet corner of Bergen. It is named after the morning sun, which comes up from behind the mountains and straight into the rooms.

The path up Løvstakken starts at the top of our own garden, and the rooftop terrace above the garage is yours, with a fire bowl and a view over the treetops. Fast fibre wifi, a heated bathroom floor, free parking and self check-in, and the two of us one floor up if you need anything

The space
Kitchen and living area, open plan. A two-plate induction hob, a combined oven and microwave, a dishwasher, a fridge freezer, a kettle and a toaster, with the cookware, dishes and glasses to go with them. A two-seater sofa, a coffee table and a heat pump that both heats and cools. A high table with chairs that works for meals and just as well for a laptop, and an ethernet port behind the sofa if you want the steadiest possible connection.

Sleeping alcove. A 160 cm queen bed, with blackout curtains.

Bathroom. A heated floor, a shower, a washing machine and a drying rack for wet gear, and a hairdryer.

We heat the apartment before you arrive, so you will not walk into a cold room.

Guest access
The whole apartment is yours, it has its own entrance, and we never need to come inside during your stay.

Outside, the area above the garage is yours as well: a furnished rooftop terrace with seating, a grill and a bålpanne, looking out over the treetops and down the valley. The cushions live in the technical room under the staircase.

You are also welcome to cross our main terrace to reach the path up Løvstakken. The main terrace and the upper garden are our own space, so please pass through rather than settle in, but the way up the mountain is always open to you.

There is a free designated parking spot for the apartment.

Other things to note
The apartment is reached by stairs, so it may not suit guests with limited mobility.

The parking spot suits regular cars and SUVs. We cannot take large vans or campers, so message us first if you are unsure.

There is no television, no tumble dryer and no iron, and we do not provide shampoo, shower gel or laundry detergent. There are two supermarkets a few minutes' walk down our street for anything you need, and both are closed on Sundays, so it is worth stocking up on the Saturday.

There are outdoor cameras on the property. They cover the garden and the area above the garage, so the outdoor space you use is in view. None of them can see inside the apartment, and there are no cameras indoors.

There are smoke alarms in the kitchen, the living room and the technical room, and a fire extinguisher in the technical room. There is no carbon monoxide alarm, because there is nothing here that could produce it: no gas supply, and no fireplace or wood burner.

Where you’ll be

Fyllingsdalen, Vestland, Norway

We are in Bønes, a quiet mountainside neighbourhood on the edge of Bergen. It is residential and it is genuinely quiet, and the mountain starts at the top of our garden.

That mountain is Løvstakken. The path up begins at the top of the garden and takes about an hour and a half to two hours to the summit, where the view is over the whole of Bergen. If you would rather have an easier walk, Løvstien runs into the city and takes about two hours. Deer come through the garden fairly often.

Two supermarkets are a few minutes' walk down our street, the nearer of them under five minutes. Beyond those there is not much within walking distance, but a great deal is about ten minutes away by car: Fyllingsdalen, Lagunen and Nesttun are where the bigger shops, the shopping centres and most of the places to eat outside the centre are. There is a playground a few minutes away, and Wolt delivers here, which is worth knowing on a wet evening.

The centre of Bergen is a short bus ride away, and Bryggen, Fløyen and the KODE museums are all easy to reach from the stops in town.
