Originally built more than 200 years ago, the farmhouse at Millknock Farm has been extended and modernised many times over the years to create a comfortable home. A welcome pack containing a sample pot of our homemade jam and a dozen freshly baked scones, along with tea, coffee, sugar, milk and butter, waits inside the house on your arrival. Close to beaches, golf, fishing, and bird watching in Ireland's Sunny South East, this is a great base for families (with kids) and groups to stay.

The space
With 6 bedrooms sleeping up to 12 people, a large garden for the kids to play in, and a kitchen table which can seat 12 people, it is the perfect place for a group of friends, extended family, or a couple of families to get together for a self-catering holiday.

Guest access
Guests have full access to the house and garden, as well as a shed. The garden is fully enclosed and is 50 meters from the road. The house is at the end of a driveway which is shared with my own house.

Other things to note
Bed linen is provided for the 10 beds only, please note that sheets for the travel cot are not provided. 12 bath towels, 12 hand towels, 3 tea towels, oven gloves and 3 bath mats are also provided.
Oil fired central heating and hot water is included.
Sorry, no pets.

Where you’ll be

Tomhaggard, County Wexford, Ireland

It is less than 1km from the house to the historic Tacumshane Windmill, the only surviving complete wind-driven corn mill in Ireland. A rare feature of this windmill is its revolving roof, which could be turned to face the sails into the wind. In 1948 it was placed in the guardianship of the Commissioner of Public Works for preservation as a national monument. If you would like to visit this unique attraction, the key is available from the neighbouring Meylers Millhouse Bar free of charge. The eastern shores of Tacumshane Lake are less than 1km away, and can be seen from the upstairs windows of the house. Tacumshane Lake is a sedimentary lagoon with a gravel/sand barrier that supports a wide variety of plants and animals. It is one of the largest examples of a lagoon in the country. Tacumshane Lake has been designated a Special Protection Area under the E.U. Birds Directive. It is nationally important for nine bird species. Rostoonstown Beach is 1.5km (1 mile) away. It is not suitable for swimming due to dangerous currents, but it is a long sandy beach which is part of the Wexford Coastal Walk. It is also a popular location for shore fishing with locals and holidaymakers alike. The western shores of Our Lady’s Island Lake are a popular place for windsurfing, and can also be found at Rostoonstown. A selection of safe sandy beaches that are suitable for bathing are located within 12km (8 miles) of the property, including Carne, Rosslare Strand, and St Helens. The fishing village of Kilmore Quay is within easy reach, being just 12km (8 miles) away. From here you can charter a fishing boat to go sea fishing, or just sample some of the catch in the local seafood restaurants, or visit the annual Seafood Festival. There are a number of golf courses nearby, including: St Helens Bay Golf Club 10km (6 miles), Rosslare Golf Club 10km (6 miles), and Wexford Golf Club 15km (10 miles).

The farmhouse at Millknock Farm has been in my family since it was built more than 200 years ago, and I am the 2nd generation to welcome guests to what I still think of as my grandparents home.
