We offer our guests a lot of peace and tranquility in a beautiful natural historically protected environment (Saut de la Mounine), authentic stonewall houses from 1885, a "private" swimming pool, private parking, a playground, garden furniture, barbecues etc.
On the property there are several vegetable gardens and a herb garden, also at the guests disposal, seasonal vegetables when available and even a few fresh eggs from our chickens.
Meals can be provided on request.
The space
Situated on the border of the department Aveyron and department Lot, three fully renovated stone build lodges are available for a lovely quiet holiday.
La Grange is a 3 story stone house built in the regional style, with the bottom floor built into the rocks. This is where the main entrance is located. On this floor you will find the bathroom with toilet, shower and washbasin and a fully equipped kitchen with a gas stove and oven, refrigerator and dining table. A wooden open staircase on your left leads to the 1st floor where the living room is located. A large cosy room with dining table, library, fireplace and a sofa bed that can be setup to serve as double bed. this floor also has an exit at street level.
Another open wooden staircase leads to the top floor. here under the wooden beams of the roof you will find a kingsize bed and 2 single beds. this room is equipped with a mobile airconditioning unit.
Via the kitchen you have acces to the patio with a lovely (private) terrace and a bbq setup.
The lodges are all on the same property, but are positioned so that each house has a lot of privacy.
The lodges can be rented each separate or all together.
The domain of Mas de Galy is situated on the edge of the village Saujac in the natural and cultural-historical surrounding of "Saut de la Mounine". The lodges of Mas de Galy share the garden and natural swimming pond.
The lodges are located at walking distance, about 500 metres from the river Lot with a lovely beach and walking and hiking trails start at the door.
Each lodge is furnished and equipped with a fitted kitchen (with utensils, oven and dishwasher), furnished bedrooms with bedlinnen and towels provided, bathroom, library, hi-fi system (Radio, CD) and terrace/balcony furniture and bbq.
Each private terrace or balcony offers a view on the private swimming pond or the castle of Mont brun against the northern cliffs of the gorges of the river Lot.
At 5 kilometres from Saujac, downsteam the river le Lot is the ancient town of Cajarc offering shops (supermarket, mini-market, local markets on Wednesday and Friday), restaurants with terraces, a museum, and a tourist information office.
It is possible for us to organise kayak trips there and even do a descent on the river with transportation to and from.

This house has 3 floors, with 2 steep stairs in between. The bedroom is at the top floor and the bathroom with toilet on the bottom floor, please take this into concideration if you have small children or have elderly or people that have difficulty walking in your company.
We can serve you a housemade breakfast with home made bread, pastries, d'orange juice, different jams, cheese, bacon and eggs. Other meals can be served on request, for example we can prepare you a lovely 3 course dinner for you to finish or put together on your arrival and dine at your own tempo.

The domain of "Mas de Galy" (2800m2) lies on a terraced slope, 500m outside the village of Saujac and about 500m from the south bank of the river Lot in the department Aveyron, on the border of the department Lot. The estate is located in the natural and cultural protected area of Saut de la Mounine. The two stonebuilt gites ruraux of "Mas de Galy" (anno 1885) are fully restored. The gites are situated in an L-shape (see map), each cottage has a private terrace with a view at the rocks on the other side of the river Lot with the little castle of Montbrun located against the rock wall.
Saujac is a 12th century farmers village at 600 km south of Paris (see roadmap). An authentic small village with stone houses built in the architectural typical style of the Quercy region. In addition to the delicious private ecological swimming pond on the estate of Mas de Galy itself, there is also the river Lot with a beach on walking distance. People enjoy the grass and stone "beaches" and the flowing water. Small children enjoy "tampering" in the shallow water at the banks or in the "little pools" nearby the barrages. Genuine swimming is possible in the deep middle of the broad river that most of the time is flowing quietly.
Mas de Galy is a good starting point for walks (documented routes) and cycling tours through the countryside in the surrounding area. A lovely steep walk of only one hour to "Saut the la Mounine", starts directly from the gite.
5 km downstream the 12th century city of Cajarc offers visitors a nice authentic center. Cajarc is the birthplace of Francoise Sagan and Coluche. Visit Cajarc for your daily shopping, enjoy the terraces, restaurants and see the tourist office. Cajarc has a completely renovated municipal swimming pool (in 20015), with slides and tennis courts.
At 22 kms in the Aveyron the larger old city of "Villefranche de Rouergue" offers a beautifull square opposite of the great church (great market day Thursday morning's) and lovely quays along the river Aveyron. Trips to Villeneuve d'Aveyron, St Cirque Lapopie, Roccamadour, Cahors, Cordes, Figeac, Conques, Belcastel etc. are highly recommended, numerous beautifull archtectonical interesting small old villages in the surrounding are worth a visit.
The quiet region of "Quercy" with his high plateaus (causses), and sections with beautiful river valleys (gorges), offers natural and cultural surprises. At short distance, there are beautifull rivers the Lot, the Aveyron, the Cèlè, the Diège and the Tarn, finding there way through sometimes gentle and sometimes steep gorges. Daytrips through this nature with the many architecturally interesting towns by bicycle, on foot or by car are recommendable. A mild climat in the spring and autumn goes perfect with those activities.
In addition to the tourist office in Cajarc, all the gites of "Mas de Galy" offers brochures with tips for trips, walks (maps), markets, activities etc. Culinary this area of France is challenging, a search for small restaurants with local specialities is certainly rewarded, the wines are of good quality!
