The space
The space
The couple Romeu and Edite Assing, their two children and grandparents are typical farmers from the interior of Santa Catarina, of German descent and a high level of ecological awareness. The family, founding partner of Acolhida na Colônia, is very friendly and welcomes guests with affection and attention. Family members divide their daily lives between caring for visitors, making homemade breads, milk production, fish farming, the sugar cane derivatives agribusiness and working in the fields.

Culinary specialties
Edite is a great cook. Preserving family traditions, food is prepared with that love and affection that only homemade food has. In the colonial coffee, we find the family specialty: corn bread baked in the caeté leaf. As a side dish, we have donuts, cream, curd, seasonal fruit jellies, honey and organic molasses produced in the family's agribusiness, as well as many cucas, cakes and other delicious homemade delicacies made on the spot.
For lunch, Gemüse – a typical dish of the local German culture - is a must. Along with it, we also find the fish produced on the property – which can be fished by the guests themselves – organic free-range chicken or roast meat also accompanies the meal, along with fresh organic vegetables produced on the property.

Trails and Waterfalls
On the property, there is a private Atlantic Forest reserve of 20 hectares, explored only by the trails. This forest offers charming trails that can be explored in the company of Romeu and Leandro. During the hike, you will receive a lot of information about the species of centuries-old native trees and the animals and birds that inhabit the forest. You can easily spot streams of crystal clear waters, small waterfalls, and hopefully some monkeys, toucans and howler monkeys.
Romeu's property borders the forest reserve of his brother Valnerio Assing (Pousada Doce Encanto), and it is possible to take good walks in the forest involving the two properties.
Another trail that can be done without the accompaniment of a guide is the Melíponas trail. On it, you will get to know several species of stingless bees that are native to the region, ending the tour with a refreshing and relaxing waterfall bath.
In addition to the trails in the native forest of the property, guests are free to hike throughout the property, with a bike ride* around the dams as a great suggestion.
*The property does not have bicycles available for loan. Each interested party must bring their own bike.

Property production
The property is associated with the AGRECO Ecological Farmers Association. The property's main agricultural activity is the agroecological cultivation of sugarcane, processed in the family's agribusiness and transformed into molasses, sugar and the famous cachaça. The property's Tilapia production in its 2 hectares of dams is also used to feed the family and tourists, in addition to serving as a fishery for those who want to fish their own fish. In an agroecological way, all other products (vegetables, fruits, meats, eggs, milk, jellies) served at the family table and to tourists are produced on the property. In addition, the Assing family makes breads (specializing in corn bread baked in caeté leaves), cakes and wonderful homemade cookies in the wood-fired oven.

Take it home
You can take home with you on your return trip, the traditional corn bread baked in the caeté leaf, honey, molasses, vegetables, free-range eggs, jellies, cream, curd, butter, homemade sweets, cassava, beans, cachaça, liqueurs, seasonal fruits, cheeses and also the organic products of Cooperagreco (chicken, tomato sauce, ketchup, preserves, brown sugar, etc.), with which the family is associated.

Guest access
Accommodations
The property has three very comfortable chalets with a view of the mountains and lakes that is eye-catching. In addition, the colonial restaurant with a capacity for 30 people is available to visitors. For leisure, guests can rest in a very comfortable hammock under the shade of an ingazeiro tree. The welcoming corner, where the guest learns about the history of the property within the colony, and a large collection of books and magazines on a wide variety of subjects are also available to guests. For those who like board games, we also have some available to everyone.
