Neighborhood highlights

Welcome to Hatfield Wisconsin!

Hatfield is nestled in the pines of Central Wisconsin on the border of Jackson and Clark Counties near Black River Falls.

Hatfield is also home to Lake Arbutus, an 840-acre lake.

Hatfield and Lake Arbutus area has three campgrounds, six public boat landings, food, entertainment centers, and a gas station within a four-mile radius.

Hatfield offers many additional recreational activities including downhill skiing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting, geocaching (our family favorite) and ATV trail riding.

Hiking
Jackson County Forest and the Black River State Forest offer many opportunities for hiking. There are over 100 miles or more of hiking trails across the Black River Falls area for your enjoyment.

Boating & Fishing
Lake Arbutus cradles both Clark and Jackson counties in West Central Wisconsin. The 840-acre lake was formed in the early 1900's for generating hydroelectric power.

The 9 miles of shoreline provide a variety of recreational opportunities including boating, fishing, swimming, water skiing, and canoeing.

Lake Arbutus area has three campgrounds, six public boat landings, and two public beaches.

Anglers can enjoy both lake and river fishing in Hatfield. The lake and the Black River produce walleye, northern pike, channel catfish, muskie, crappie, large and small mouth bass. Several trout streams in the area also provide excellent action for feisty brook and brown trout.

ATV Trails

The ATV trail is a 1 minute ride around the corner and down road from our cabin. Technically we are not on the ATV so to be able to ride our ATV on the road from our cabin to the road/trail we have a agreement with our "neighbors" that we will be respectful and drive quietly and slowly down the road to connect to the road/trail. The trail is the road that runs through the middle of town that connects the Clark County and Jackson county trails. If you turn left you can ride the Clark County trails. If you turn right you can ride the Jackson County trails.Hatfield is often called ATV Central due to its location on the border of Clark and Jackson Counties, providing enthusiasts with access to hundreds of miles of riding trails. With its convenient parking zones complete with loading ramps, ATV friendly eating establishments, gas station with ATV wash bays, Hatfield caters well to the ATV riders.

Mountain Biking

The Black River Falls area offers outstanding mountain biking opportunities. The Black River State Forest has 24 miles of designated mountain bike trails. Trailheads can be found at Castle Mound and Pigeon Creek campgrounds and at the Smrekar and Wildcat cross-country ski trail parking lots. The trails take you through scenic pine and oak forests with terrain that will challenge you at every level. Wazee Park, located just east of Black River Falls, is home to a nine-mile mountain biking trail that follows the old Jackson county iron mine sites and provides breathtaking vistas of eastern Jackson County. In addition to the designated trails, the Black River State Forest and Jackson County Forest have several hundred miles of forest and old logging roads open to mountain bike travel and will give you a one-of-a-kind off-road experience.

Canoeing and Kayaking

The Black River Falls area has some of the finest streams and rivers in Wisconsin. With few rapids, the Black River is an excellent destination for family canoeing. The river is dotted with sand bars, ideal for camping and sun bathing. All along the Black River access points are conveniently located, from Hatfield all the way to the Mississippi River. You can plan a two-hour trip or a five-day excursion. The Black River Falls area’s creeks can offer a challenging experience for the seasoned canoeist and kayaker. Halls Creek, Morrison Creek, the East Fork, the Black River and Robinson Creek provide thrilling rapids and stunning scenery. When you plan your trip, be sure to call ahead for the latest water conditions.
